What is a front firing sub woofer vs any other sub woofer?

Title says it all. Does front firing make placement of the woofer more flexible? jerry525

Not really. In fact, it makes more critical in that you then want the woofer facing the listener where with a down-firing unit, it doesn't matter and can be placed behind things.
