Bruce Willis best films

Bruce Willis is probably in company of few actors who made a sucessfull transition from TV (Moonlighting) to movies. But his resume have its share of being corky (The Last Boy Scout) to being just silly (Armageddon).

In these movies he managed to strike a balance between being likable and the movie watchable.

Die Hard: Story of a lone hero battling a multitude of single-minded opponents in an isolated setting also became a common descriptor for later action films.

Striking Distance: A very under rated movie as it is full of good actors and a good story line.

12 Monkeys: A very dark movie, but good acting by Willis and Brad Pitt.

The Fifth Element: One of best sci-fi film ever made.

The Sixth Sense: I was familiar with the director M. Night Shyamalan earleir film (Praying With Anger), but he nailed it in this movie.

I own several movies with Bruce and liked him in Moonlighting. Just off the top a couple of my favorites, Red, Mercury Rising, Last Man Standing & 16 Blocks. He has quite a filmology, many I haven't seen yet.

I like Bruce. He's one of the few actors that can make a career out of making movies playing hmself, not unlike John Wayne and Clint Eastwood. He plays everything tounge in cheek and witha smirk on his face, and gets away with it but, hey, he's a Jersey guy. Waddaya expect?

I agree with Red, 5th Element and the Die Hard series.

I haven't seen every Willis flick but all you listed plus at least Red and Last Man Standing. My fave by a wide margin is Fifth Element which is a multi-rewatcher for me; I'm not saying it's his "best" film, just that it's my favorite.

The Last Man Standing had potential to be a good movie since it was somewhat borrowed from FistFull Of Dollars, but director Walter Hill chose to make it dark with a very dreaded dusty sceneries. And weary narration to go along with it :)

There is also another school of thought suggesting that actors we think play themself are such a good actor that we don't notice they are acting since we see them as playing themsleves. John Wayne acting is usually included in that school of thought.
