My first post here..forgive me if I go about this wrong. Before I pull the trigger on this purchase, I was looking for confirmation that it's a worthy investment and that I'll likely (being of sound mind and without overly high expectations) will be satisfied with the B&W speakers.

(1 each) B&W ASW610XP $1200.00

(4 each) B&W CCM683 $1700.00
(1 each) Yamaha RXA3010 $1499.99
(1 each) Yamaha Blu-Ray Player $379.99
(1 each) APC Power Center $449.99
(1 each) Salamander Stand $899.99

B&W makes some nice speakers, very detailed. If you auditioned them and like the sound then don't second guess yourself. For the money there are better subs and for a little more money you can get an Oppo Blu-Ray player- OPPO Digital - Universal Network 3D Blu-ray Players - Buy Direct from the Manufacturer (http://www.oppodigital.com) like the BDP-103

That is quite the system you have put together there.

Enjoy!

Like BR said, make sure you have listened to the B&W speakers before dropping that cash. I personally chose Dynaudio over B&W for several reasons including the tweeter.

I also second the OPPO suggestion. I have 2 93s that have done everything I want, but for audio only fall short of my Rotel 1072 CDP.

Good luck and welcome.

Hello movieguy which Salamander stand are you looking at?

Thank you. I researched your sub and speakers. Neat! I see what you're saying about the sub!

I hate to buy the first package a local shop throws out without some diligent research. I trust the shop but they also push what they're used to. The demo in the show room was great but it didn't blow me away and make me say "I've gotta have it". I know the sub was weak compared to ones I've heard in the past and the vocals were hard to hear in the demo.

The salesman did say it was tuned right but he should have it dialed in for the price :-)

Thanks again for the input. It's especially helpful to see what other folks are running.

I researched the SVS sub and that appears to be a no brainer. For about the same price I can purchase the SVS HT package. I found some very favorable write ups on their towers and surround speakers. Their expensive (relative to my income) like the B&W but I think they pack more punch for the dollar?

I can't help you with the SVS speakers, never heard them. But they have some good reviews as you said. Personally, I like PSB speakers for music and HT. I have heard a nice paradigm HT set up as well-very good.

PSB Image T6 Speaker System | Home Theater (http://www.hometheater.com/content/psb-image-t6-speaker-system)

You can put together a similar system for less money at Saturday Audio (http://www.saturdayaudio.com) Look under PSB specials then PSB B-stock or refurbished stock with the T6's for the front channels, B4's for the rear and C5 center then add what ever sub you want. I have bought a pair of B6's from them without any issues.

Bleh! I'd pay twice the amount for the B&W's before getting the SVS towers.

I tend to agree with TheHills, you know that you are getting a quality speaker with B&W. The same goes for PSB and Paradigm.

The 6 series B&W's are well regarded and with the right amplification and music source have a nice detailed sound with very good air and transparency. Some can find the tweeter to be a bit bright though. If you like the B&W's get them.

Agreed raven...i was being a bit dramatic but i think you hit the nail on the head. The tweeter is really the polarizing factor in the 6 series. Some like it and for others it steers them away. I think SVS is better served focusing on subwoofers.
