Ruby Trax, a 3-CD set celebrating NME's 40th anniversary. 40 bands covering 40 #1 hits. Pretty awesome.

Ruby Trax - The NME's Roaring Forty is a compilation album (http://forums.audioreview.com/wiki/Compilation_album) released by the magazine NME (http://forums.audioreview.com/wiki/NME) in 1992 to commemorate 40 years of publication. The album features 40 cover versions (http://forums.audioreview.com/wiki/Cover_version) of classic Number 1 songs by popular bands of the era. It was released in the following formats: three LPs (NME40LP), three CDs (NME40CD) or two cassettes (NME40MC), all having a total of 40 songs.
The album spawned a double A-side (http://forums.audioreview.com/wiki/Double_A-side) single featuring Manic Street Preachers (http://forums.audioreview.com/wiki/Manic_Street_Preachers)' version of "Suicide Is Painless (http://forums.audioreview.com/wiki/Suicide_Is_Painless)", which was listed as "Theme from M.A.S.H. (http://forums.audioreview.com/wiki/MASH_(film))", and The Fatima Mansions (http://forums.audioreview.com/wiki/The_Fatima_Mansions)' take on Bryan Adams (http://forums.audioreview.com/wiki/Bryan_Adams)' "(Everything I Do) I Do It for You (http://forums.audioreview.com/wiki/(Everything_I_Do)_I_Do_It_for_You)" . The 12" and CD versions of the single included an extra Manic Street Preacher song "Sleeping with the NME". The single peaked at #7 in the UK Singles Chart (http://forums.audioreview.com/wiki/UK_Singles_Chart).[2] (http://forums.audioreview.com/#cite_note-2)
All proceeds from the album went to the charity The Spastics Society (http://forums.audioreview.com/wiki/The_Spastics_Society).

That actually looks like something I'd enjoy, especially the track with Marr and Duffy. Nice find!

Nah, too many good tracks on it. It takes me a 5 or 6 disc comp to make one with a discs worth of good stuff on it. You know that!
