Stompin' Tom is a Canadian legend. Hockey fans may know this song.

He lived a very colourful life which you can read about here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stompin'_Tom_Connors) if you're interested. He protested against the lack of support for Canadian artists by returning six Juno awards.
I had the pleasure of seeing him perform live just a few years ago. He told some great stories and was a wonderful entertainer. There were lots of off colour jokes and comments that only someone of his character could get away with.
He was 77 so his death is not a huge surprise, but the loss will be felt all over the country.
