Digital Audio Recorder and Microphone?

I currently own an Olympus WS-700M digital audio recorder, on the device there is an option to have an external microphone attached to the hole socket on the top of it.

So I was wondering do you think the audio quality will sound BETTER if I were to buy a microphone and attach it to the audio recorder?


Because I own this recorder and also own a video camcorder a JVC 40X Zoom camcorder, BUT it doesn't have an external microphone option.

Anyone know of any good camcorders that has use of an external microphone?
