I have a monster Parasound amp that runs hot, always has and I am sure always will as it was designed to be hot

This is not really a problem but I noticed AA has a parasound fan designed to sit on top of equipment and disperse the heat better.

Is there any real benefit to this or is it just one more toy to have? The add states it will make your amp last longer but mine is already 18 years old so not sure if that is true or not

Also the fan is half rack size and the amp is 18inches wide so the fan is not over the cooling fins and would just sit in the middle of the amp. Also would it just send more hot air to all my other components above the amp and make them run hotter?

One last thing the amp is in a rack but the entire side of the rack is open to the air so it does get plenty of air now

thanks

If the amp has never shut down due to thermal overload and is 18 years old I would not worry now.

Ditto. As long as you leave enough space around the amp for sufficient airflow, you should be fine.
