This $39 Sure amp is definitely of the Hong Kong dimestore variety.

I sold the Aerials to buy more 4 inch drivers.

Check out the big bottles on this Chinese cheapie. Owning a 2a3 should make your bucket list.

Poultry, I'm not sure why you keep bringing up that quote from Mr. P. In fairness to him, your comments in that thread made it clear that you regard his gear as overpriced crap. You can't insult his gear and then be surprised when he responds in kind.

The complete lack of respect for each other's choices and equipment in this hobby is truly appalling. Why can't we all like different gear without feeling the need to bash everyone else's choice?

Oh good gawd, too bad you don't live by your own words...why don't you mind your own business. Both Poultry and P are good people. Ajani you need to focus on hmmm, lets see..maybe losing some weight and less on other people's opinions. You are one big portly walking contradiction.

Great pics by the way Poultry. I must admit that gear is cool but isn't quite my cup of tea so I don't know much about most of it other than reading a few articles.

Ah the legendary troll is back. I can't say I missed your childish ramblings... of "Emotiva is Yuck" or "Class D amps are yuck". You are still a complete joke and a hypocrite.

Also I'm surprised you aren't against Poultry's gear since you have such disdain for cheap gear. The snobbery Poultry is complaining about is exactly what you have always displayed. You can't stand me because I showed you up as the snobbish clown that you are.

Perhaps you'd like to send me more of these posts:

haha Panasonic! this explains so much about u. must suck to be old, poor and stupid - thehills44060

The fact that clowns like you are allowed to abuse members as you please, is a major part of the problem with our hobby. Is this site really so desperate for members that they can't ban you?

Clearly you are confusing me with your mother. You have no idea what I even look like. Sometimes your lack of intelligence is truly amazing. Anyway, you win. You've always wanted me to tell you what a complete fool you are, so enjoy. I think it really is time I leave this site to trolls like you. It's clear that all my attempts to suggest that members be reasonable, has been a waste of time. There is no hope for civility or intelligent discussion here.

Ajani,

I have not actually heard a single piece of Poultry's gear so I can't really make any comments other than the fact that I admire his passion and without a doubt I enjoy seeing the progress on the speakers he builds. It's neat that he'd take the time to post all of those pics for us to see. Simply put he's got my respect regardless of what he electronics listens to.

I am not a snob but even if I was I have every right to be and so does anyone else. The difference is I value and learn from others' opinions and experiences. You do not.

You yourself stated your height and weight in one of the car threads. Not my fault you are an easy target and continue to make it easier. You'll never leave this site except for when the dinner bell is ringing or to take your garbage bags of empty cans to the recycling station.

The fact you want me banned is comical. You must have a very difficult life if you cannot even deal with some ribbing an internet forum. Why haven't you placed me on your ignore list yet?

Dudley bought Audio Note E speakers that retail for nearly $8,000. Which is a kind of inexpensive for the Audio hobby in the big scheme of things but by no means a cheap loudspeaker. Although to me that speaker is an end of the road product - I am fortunate that in my 20s I heard the loudspeaker and knew it easily beat everything I heard in the 20 years prior - it took Art 30 years to figure it out There are better but the costs are insane and the room requirements also considerably larger. And Art owns a Shindo - not exactly inexpensive. Still I would take relatively inexpensive SETs over expensive SS that I have heard every time.

hahaha - that's awesome. Cute dog. Always wanted a dog - but always lived in apartments or places that would not support one - so I've had cats.

In Kitty Heaven but 18 years those two kept me company. I never understood cat versus dog arguments - I like em both in their own ways. depends on the individual animal - the left one was a suck up and the one on the right a total *****. I liked them both.

I have only heard a single driver speaker in a house once. I can't remember what was driving it after the turntable. The room was a small living room with little furnishings and a hardwood floor. The speakers were maybe 5" wide by 18" tall with a single 3 or 4 inch driver. Of course there was no bone thumping bass but at any volume, the performers were in the room quietly playing beautiful background music.

As far as the speakers go, they really have my interest whether in kit form or professionally manufactured. I am also close to thinking that when anyone asks for a musical entry level system, any of these low cost tube amps from $400 to $800 with a frugal horn or similar.

Knowing I will need to downsize dramatically in the near future, I have some good ideas what to do if I don't buy a $3 or $4K Integrated. One could have a nice small setup in every room for the same price.

Poultry, is that your workspace and sets of unfinished speakers? If so, are you planning on selling them pre built?

Hyfi, my work area is my garage which doubles as listening space for OB speakers too large for the house. The "herd of horns" is just the four I built and now use in a bedroom system.

The bigger is better and the more costly the better mentality has little to do with true high fidelity.

The problem for most folks is the mindset change and the guts to tell your audio buddy you sold it all for a 2 watt amp!

Also, what brands of fully built single driver speakers can you point me to besides Omega?

RGA, gorgeous cats and I know you miss them. We're cat and dog people as well. A calico ( Cali ) and orange tabby ( Chubbs ) to go with Dudley, the goldendoodle and Winnie the rescue chow.

Hyfi, I really like my small 4.5 Tektons. You can call Eric Alexander, a great down to earth guy, who will tell you what he has that fits your budget. I prefer his smaller Fostex based speakers over the larger ones. His current hot offering is the Lore, which has the same 10 inch guitar speaker as the Zu's I recently sold. With that pro sound driver you sacrifice detail for a huge soundstage. FWIW a member on this forum had Omegas ( larger Fostex ) and Tektons ( smaller Fostex ) and ended up selling the Omegas.

If you can spend $800 on speakers I'd go with Ed Schilling's ( Hornshoppe ) small BL horns with 4.5 Fostexs. Drive them with a 3.5 watt SET N3 APPJ ( Miniwatt) for $250 and you'll be blown away. Call Ed as he loves to talk.

Hawthoreaudio is a good source for open baffles. I'm fairly sure they offer pre built OBs which aren't too large.

Any of Bob Brines's designs on A'gon are outstanding.

This tread has everything, cool speaker system set ups, cats and dogs, awesome! I really like the speakers coming up from the PVC tubing that is a really cool idea for outdoor sets. I have two cats myself since I live in an apartment I have not yet picked up a puppy but there is one out there for me, for now I have Kirara (Kiki for short) my girl calico and Scraps my boy I found on the streets when I went on a business trip to Florida.

Birdman, you sure have some nice gear! How do you like the Audio GD preamp? I think that I would like to put together a nice budget system with chinese gear. I have already been impressed with the sound for the Grant Fidelity DAC-11 and the Maverick Tubemagic although there is some trade off in build quality in these 2.

Dang Poultry! How I wish my wife would have never transferred to North Carolina ! I would have made the trip to South Carolina to see you when we visit her brother over in Belton.

Hey Poultry...I have an Idea! Over at Audiokarma in the tube thread, there are a few guys who always talk about cheap Chinese gear. You should post these same pictures and the title of the thread over there and drive those guys nuts!
