When I was chewing the fat with Doc Strange on Monday I asked him "what movies make you stop and drop"? "Stop and drop" is a term I made up for films that, if they're on when you pass the tube, are so compelling that you stop going where you're supposed to be going and drop whatever it is you're started doing. How many times have you gotten your coat on to go somewhere only to find yourself an hour later with your car keys in your hands and your husband, wife or kids screaming at you to "c'mon already"! My partial list is as follows.

"Godfather I"
"The Thing From Another World"
"Red River"
"Fort Apache"
"Them"
"They Were Expendable"
"Bataan"
"Casablanca"
"Tombstone"
"It's a Wonderful Life"
"Conan The Barbarian"
"Independence Day"
"Starship Troopers"
"Aliens" (best "rear guard" action ever filmed)
"Band of Brothers"
"The Pacific"
"The Wire"
"Game of Thrones"

Guilty, but after being on this site for over a decade now and being educated in PQ, SQ and the rest of the lot from you bums. I sit and compare the PQ, and SQ more than just watch it being one of my favorite flicks. And HD has caused it to happen more often, for so many of the movies I have are on DVD.

Mission Impossble I, II
Enemy at the gate
U571
Bad Boys I.II
Eagle Eye
Minority Report
Live Free Die Hard
Rules of Engagement
and about half from worf's list

many of mine are already mentioned. the stop and drop movies for me are the ones i know so well that the second i see a frame of it, my mind already loads in whatever happened before so it's as if i've already seen the movie up to that point immediately. not that these are all great movies, just sayin'....

Jaws
The Usual Suspects
Shawkshank Redemption
Tremors
Rocky 3
Empire Strikes Back
Star Wars (only if i tune in after they've left the bar, i can't watch that desecrated scene any more)
Deep Blue Sea

Deep Blue Sea

Lol, I love it. I thought I was the only one...

-Goodfellas
-American Psycho
-Resident Evil
-most of Worf's list
-pretty much anything with Hugh Grant, DeNiro, Pacino or Cameron Diaz...well, and Halle Berry but that's different.

I fell victim to this phenomenon the other day when I stumbled on American History X.

My list would include:
The Godfathers (all of em)
Fight Club
Back to the Future
Caddyshack
Sunset Boulevard
Citizen Kane
Saving Private Ryan
Rock Star
Pretty much any movie with Marky Mark in it.

There's probably a lot more. Back in the day I was often held hostage by TBS when the bi-weekly showings of The Shawshank Redemption were going.

Caddyshack is a good pick along with Wise Guys and Johnny Dangerously

Any of the Lord of the Rings movies and almost any old Clint Eastwood Western

By the way, Clint is 82 today.
