I had a rather large bucket list but knocked off most of them over the last 5 years, especially Bob Dylan last fall. I know I'm really late to the party, but I've never seen Neil Young, David Bowie, or the Stones live. If I had to pick one, it would be nearly impossible. Nearly I say, but I think Bowie is the #1 choice and he's coming to Philly this summer. May be nearly impossible (and expensive) to get a ticket, but I'm going to try.

How about you? There's not much talk about live music around here. I have Swervedriver next, then Andrew Bird, and I think I'm going to see both Washed Out and Destroyer.

Whoa there! Bowie is touring this year??? How do I not know that? I've seen him about 5 or 6 times and would pay whatever he asks to see him again. He's my all-time favourite musical artist ever even though I don't like much that he's done since 1980. I credit him with changing my life musically.

Swish...are you referring to this ( http://beatsperminute.com/news/david-bowie-announces-12-date-farewell-tour-for-summer-2012/)?

****! You had my hopes up. :(

When I had the idea for the thread, I did minimal research to see if he was touring and I didn't check anything else. That really burns my butt!

!! I'm more interested in yr allusion that Swervedriver is playing somewhere.

Right now I really want to see Seun Kuti and Africa '80... he's coming to Minneapolis and I bought tickets but I absentmindedly also booked a trip to Chicago that weekend. I have a feeling that this is one show I'd really regret missing.

Unfortunately for me, I blew my chance.

I was all about to purchase tickets to see Miles Davis at the Keswick and something else came up so I decided oh well, next time.

Miles died 2 weeks after giving his last performance, which was that Keswick show.

I have been to so many concerts -- and I was a roadie for two years as well -- there isn't really anyone left I need to see.

The only band on my list I can immediately think of that I never got to see was PINK FLOYD.

Hi FA :

Back in the day (1975 - 77) I was in a band in Dallas, TX that was one of the so called "top 5" in the DFW area............based on demand for live gigging, crowd size, etc...........IOW, we had a great time.

However, there was this group of gay guys that had a band that had the most awesome quality equipment and they did a lot of Bowie covers.............and they were spot on.

Me and my classic-rocker buddies would go out to see 'em if we had a night off and just sit back and be amazed at how good these guys were...........at that time, it was totally weird to sit and drink beer in a gay bar..............sometimes they played in the straight clubs too.

Probably DEVO.

Probably DEVO.

I had a chance to see them, but they were playing at the exact same time as the New Pornographers... about a mile away. I literally flipped a coin (and it came up Pornos).

DEVO played a free outdoor show here last summer. We were downtown for something else that night and managed to catch a couple of songs on our way home. We weren't very impressed, but it would have probably been better if we'd been able to catch the whole show.

I can't recall how many days/weeks before his death that I saw that show at the Kirby Center in Wilkes-Barre, but it was pretty close...no longer than a month or so.

I was glad I got to see him live, but he was a shadow of his former self at the time. Most of the 'show' was about his band and the young guitarist (18 I believe) who was touring with him. Not my favorite Miles period, but it was still Miles.

Would not have mattered which Miles showed up. I'll be kicking myself in the ass forever for that mistake.

Glad you got to see the legend before he passed tho.

Consider Roger Waters The Wall tour, I saw Floyd twice back in the day (73 + 74) and caught Rog's Wall show last year, and must say it'd be hard to pick which was more mindbending. I'm not a big fan of the Wall album, but hearing it in the context of this audio visual spectacle made it zing. I paid $176 for my ticket and fully got my moneys worth.

I am dying to see LCD sound system -- if they ever play again.

Seen Radiohead some years ago. Was impressed with Johnny Greenwood but dang that Thom's a whiner.

Saw Van Halen in 1984. I was super young but loved it. Saw U2 and Depeche Mode -- very good shows as they have tons upon tons of good songs.

Well, it wasn't very white this winter, but still great and still North! :)

Toronto, June 23. Here's the full tour, Tour Dates - Roger Waters - The Wall Live (http://tour.rogerwaters.com/).

Toronto is beautiful in June, if you're interesting in heading North. :)

Let me know if you decide to make the trip. We can do dinner before the show. :)

Swish, Mr. Midfi, JohnMichael, and Bobsticks can all provide references.

...and the best show they did was in the smallest venue of the 4. The show at the Electric Factory in Philly was good, but the one at the Chameleon in Lancaster was fantastic.

Oh man, I just found out Built to Spill is coming to Philly in June. Have to make that show! And probably Washed Out and Destroyer too...and Swervedriver is later this month, then Andrew Bird on May 5th. This is shaping up to be a great year for live music.

Absolutely! Autumn and hubby make outstanding dinner conversationalists and traveling companions.

I would love to join in on the frivolity with any group that includes the Dynamic Canuckian Duo but they tell me I can't leave the country for a few years :p

TicketBastard sucks! But that's what we get when governments choose to ignore antitrust laws.
