They seem to build alot of very well made and nice looking speaker.

I ran into these online.

These speakers are made in a stone structure.

Wondering why no one ever talks about these HiVi/ Swan speakers?

HiVi drivers are readily available from DIY providers such as Parts Express (http://www.parts-express.com/wizards/searchResults.cfm?srchExt=Mfg&srchMfg=84) and Madisound (http://www.madisound.com/manufacturers/hivi/index.php) but the finished speakers seem pretty rare at retailers.

Well I did some digging around and the guy who started and designed Swan Speakers....a Mr Frank Hale who is a born Canadian, did very good the first 4 years of his business with his product. He did so good with his new Swan Speaker Company, he was offered to sell the company to a very big Chines Company called HiVi and stay on as the designer and engineer and thats what he did. They now have headquarters in California as well as China. But I wonder if the reason that American Consumers stay away is because of the Chines tag HiVi. But never the less...its a very good product designed by a Canadian. Totem use mostly Swan drivers as well as a few Seas drivers. Swan sells drivers to a lot of speaker manufacturers and are the second larges driver maker.

I used to love the Swans Allure speaker before the company was sold to China. Such a nice looking shape and design. Since then I have not been impressed with any of their speakers EXCEPT for the 2.1se which is a fantastic monitor for the price. I'd like to hear the custom as well but nobody I know in my area has done the upgrade yet and my dealer doesn't have any.

The original Diva line was one of the most garish looking speakers I have seen and sounded as such. They swept through this site when it first started out but then fizzled quickly. I recently got to hear the 6.3's (i think) from the recent diva line and while they don't look as gaudy as the originals they didn't sound all that great.

I had high hopes for the F2.2 but was disappointed. They did not sound good enough to me for that price point. I especially hate the gold trim woofer rings on the latest iteration, bleh.

Never listened to any of their computer speakers before but it might be worth a try for someone looking in that arena.

I was about to say that those first couple of photos scream Chinese design tastes. Those stone speakers look like their Sonus Fabers that are about to turn into the Incredible Hulk. :)

Although those last ones are drop dead gorgeous and I would be getting some dropped dead gorgeous ladies if I had them.

One of those photos is from the 6 Moons website, so they might have a review.

This might be another Chinese company creeping on a come up! Good for them; they were smart enough to get the right designer, they got the drivers and the resources, although a couple of those 3" tweeters look like they are Morels.

Good thread Frenchmon

It had been a long exhausting journey, now that i believe I have reached the final lap of finding that perfect 2.0 active speaker for my desktop. This is the final knock-out round.
i’ve only $300-$600 to part. Hence, speakers such as the Akimate and Beolab are beyond reach from the start.
The earlier contenders includes Audio Engine A5+, M-Audio BX8, Gibbons 5,KRK Rockit 5 and the underpowered kurzweil ks-40a.
After multiple auditions and hours of research online and two parking fines i bought two sets of HIVI Swans the D1080IV and M200mkIII

Where do you start? HiVi makes enclosures for B&W and several others. They make drivers for many brands of speakers. I could not afford to buy the M1 or the M1b, so I built DIY versions, and they are some of the purest sounding speakers made. I think the price is the reason they aren't as prevalent in the US, when one set cost $60,000 US. In Europe they are very large competitors, but many European speakers don't make it to the US. There are several dealers in the US, so notify them for information and if you live close, check out the show rooms.

They do seem very nicely made. Have you had a chance to hear any of them?

As some have said, it is supplier of drivers and high end crossovers, and they sell to many companies in the US (especially if the companies are located in Utah). They helped to pioneer the us of Planar and Ribbon tweeters in high end speakers. Like so many of the ultra-high end speakers, they have limited outlets. I bought the M1 speaker in early 2002, and it is still one of the best sounding pedestal speakers I've ever heard. Then again I paid $800 a pair, and now they are double that. The fact is most of their speakers are very very expensive (some over $100,000 per pair). Although we don't appreciate them here, they are very popular in Norther Europe and the UK. Let's be honest, because the typical American doesn't buy this type speaker (except for a relative few).

I once built speakers, and used many different drivers, but I used the planar tweeter with ever one of them. I just rebuilt my PSB Alpha B1 table top speaker because it was lacking. I used a 3/4" soft dome, and 5" carbon fiber woofer, along with a Dayton 3500Hz crossover. Needless to say, the sound now sounds equal to my small Dali pedestal mounts. Since I don't build speakers now, I will recommend the Planar tweeters and both the F5 and F6 woofers for excellent replacement to existing drivers.

I have a DIY version of the M1, and it is still my most accurate speaker. I built the M1B, and it is still be tweaked at this time. Even so it may be better with a ribbon tweeter rather than the planar. They make wonderful high end powered speakers that I used for five years before buying a Parasound Amp and a PSB Alpha B1 for my computer desktop. However the Alpha B1 is missing, so I replaced the drivers and crossover with HiVi (Swan) drivers to really improve the speaker. The problem with the Swan built speakers are the costs. In Europe they are big sellers with many outlets, but in the USA they don't have the same following. To make a good speaker, you need top drivers and they make some of the best. If I had the money, I would have no problem buying their pedestal mount speakers, but I don't. Several American Speaker makers use their drivers, and they make the cases for B&W, so they obviously have high quality in every respect. If I was buying one today, I would choose a model with their planar or ribbon tweeters. The F5 & F6 woofers are top sellers to DIY makers for their quality and price.
