The third California Audio Show is going to be held August 3rd through August 5, 2012 at Crowne Plaza SFO in Burlingame, CA, the same venue as last year. My wife and I are already making plans to attend this year because I missed last year's event due to a scheduling conflict . Mr. Constantine Soo goes all out to make this event a lot of fun so maybe I will see if my kids will come with us and introduce them to an alternative to video games.

I check out audio shows and audio stores frequently. Has the state-of-the-art progressed much? IMO, NO! I am always shocked at how poor 90% of the rooms sound.

Just made hotel reservations and ordered tickets for the California Audio Show. I ordered one extra ticket for one of my kids. I am really trying to introduce at least one my 4 kids to this hobby. I hope to see you all there so if you see me introduce yourselves. I plan on attending all three days.

Yes, I would love to see a Pitch Perfect room!

I have booked my flights to California Audio Show. I will be arriving a few days early July 31st because I want to see San Francisco (never been) and want to catch a couple of Blue Jays games against the A's and the Mets against the Giants. Love baseball.

It will also be nice to see American women - don't laugh but I miss red/blonde haired "TALL" women - living in Hong Kong after all :D

I'll be covering the rooms on show days - must remember my notepad and to charge the camera batteries.

Be sure to check out the Sonist room, which was not only one of the cheapest, but, BY FAR, my favorite room.

Not only are our women wonderful, but our weather is also hard to beat: not too hot, not too cold, just right. I hope to hear some SET driven speakers. I still remember the mighty Jinro driving the Audio Note speakers at the 2010 CAS. Perfect timbre and unlimited dynamics!

The heat and humidity in HK is crazy so I will be glad to escape it for a while.

That song "American Woman" is playing in my head. The passive bunny rabbit cutesy types in HK with Hello Kitty bags everywhere makes me want to stick a fork in my eye. Even McDonalds was selling Hello Kitty dressed up like the Hamburglar, Ronnie M, Birdy and Grimace. ARGGGHHH. Asia loves their cartoons - but most of them are not even smart. At least Garfield had a plot. What does Hello Kitty do?

Korea has Doraemon the blue robot space cat - but he teaches kids about recycling and global warming and how to be a good friend. Damn it he works for his royalties.

I mean really.

My favorite SF restaurant recommendations:

Swan's Oyster Depot at 1517 Polk St is also one of Rachel Ray's favorites for elbow's-on-the-table ole timey SF counter served seafood.

Cha-Cha-Cha, a colorful Cuban Rest, at 1801 Haight St. is a couple of blocks from Ashbury where the movement took root.

Le Metro is a funky little bistro with great affordable food and local art covering the walls. 311 Divisadero St.

Fisherman's Wharf is too touristy for good food so check out the seals and then walk a few blocks to Ghirardelli's for a memorable sundae.

Some favorite restaurants: Slanted Door (Vietnamese), Cotogna (Italian with a California twist), Park Tavern (Californian), A 16 (Italian), and in Sonoma, The Girl and the Fig. All have great bars, with full menus. All have that buzz that I love.

The Slanted Door in the Embarcadero is amazing but it's always crowded so reservations are a must.

A bar seat, or two, is usually available. The full menu is served at the bar.

Thanks for the restaurant advice guys. I will definitely take note of them.

If anyone is a baseball fan - I will try going to the Mets Giants game as well as one or two of the the Jays/Athletics games.

cheers,

Having missed CAS 2011, I am really looking forward to attending this event. After reading some of the comments my wife and I may also want to visit San Francisco and have dinner up there on one of the evenings.

I can speak for Swan's and Cha x3. Fisherman's Wharf does have some good restaurants, but you have to look for them. The Codmother Fish and Chips is pretty darn good. Sotto Mare is also really good, as is Tanguito and Sally's Famous Fishwich. These are the one's I find pretty darn good, and happen to have a good rep on Yelp as well.

I would definitely go to the Slanted Door over any fisherman's wharf restaurant. It's got everything: great food and a killer view!

I've also eaten at Scomas which is rated as one of the better choices at Fisherman's Wharf. It was decent but doesn't compare to the better restaurants in Charleston.

Slanted Door on the other hand is beyond good.
