I picked up a Logictech/Slim Device Famed Transporter. Everything I have read about this device is 100% correct. Set up to my already squeeze network was a breeze. I used a straight rip of Earl Klugh solo guitar CD as a test. I checked the bit rate of the music through the Transporter and it automatically converted the WAV file to FLACC at 700kbs at play back. Earl sounded as he was in the room with me. But the real joy came when I tuned in LastFm ( subscription services), the sound was much more rich and warm, the bass was tighter. I run my system as a 7ch stereo and the separation of the music was more defined. I had been reading over in the slim device forums that some say that the Touch with a good DAC can match the Transporter. I'm just tickled at this point. :)

I forgot to add, that the transporter comes with the same remote as the SB 3 (classic), but it is backlit :),

Sweet :2: Man that is a great efficient set up! How are you connecting to the Transporter with your phone? Through an app and then bluetooth/wifi ? I have Android and would love to do that.

Its a windows phone app made for the squeezebox, there is a free one for the android straight from the Logictech web site. the one I have works through my home network (Wifi) and allows me to control playlist or random playback. I like it due that I do not need to buy the Touch to see the album art. This app also will bring up the lyrics and bio info of the artist. I can turn on/off any of my 4 SB's in my home and set each one to play anything I could do with the normal remote.

The Transporter has a great rep. Is it now discontinued? Pity if so.

A reservation I have about the Squeezebox system is the need for a special server program on you library computer; (SqueezeCenter or whatever it's called). Why any DLNA server couldn't be used I'm not sure.

Yep, no longer made

There has been a number of 3rd party plugins that work instead of the Squeeze Center/ Logictech Media Server (LMS) as it is called now days. It appears to have a stronger following in Europe than in the U.S., but I have been very happy with all of my SB's and feel it was one of the best investments I made towards listening to music in todays digital world.

Hear a live demo of the Transporter, hurry before the youtube police cut the music off

Transporter1 - YouTube (http://youtu.be/hxwYXVsrjFw) normal DSL is ok

Did a Hi res verison, but youtube cut it off as soon as I loaded it. I used my Cannon ZR900 Mini DV to record it. I changed the status of the links, so if you have very good broadband, rec 7Mbs or higher you can see the Hi res verison, the SQ is a bit better. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8sTvehjz32A (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8sTvehjz32A)
