So I'm in the process of helping someone install an A/V setup, which includes a projector and a plasma screen. What he wants is to be able to output every source to both machines, but most AVR's do not have twin HDMI outputs. I've figured that I need to get an active HDMI splitter that will take the one signal from the A/V receiver and feed it to two HDMI outputs. As far as I know, this should work.

However, his projector is an older Panasonic 720p model that only has a DVI-D input. If I use a HDMI to DVI-D adaptor, i'm guessing it should work? I'm only asking because i've heard about High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) and handshake issues. The problem here is that there will be a good number of elements in the chain (surround receiver, HDMI splitter and then DVI-D adaptor), so im hoping i wont end up with a blank screen on the projector.

Thoughts?

I would use this along with an HDMI to DVI cable end.

For only $43.88 each when QTY 50+ purchased - 1X2 PRO Series Powered HDMI Splitter with 3D support (Rev. 2.0) | HDMI Powered & Passive 1 X 2 Splitters (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=101&cp_id=10113&cs_id=1011306&p_id=7522&seq=1&format=4#feedback)
