Don't know whether to call it optimism or wishfull thinking with the American economy still on life support and the Eurozone unraveling before our very eyes, but hope we must. Here's the latest and greatest from the Frakfurt Auto Show. At least it don't cost nuthin' to drool!

I am really impressed with Ford. I recently rented a new Ford Focus and found it to be a really nice car. It had a german feel to it, in particular the ride which was taut and smooth. Handling was crisp with little body lean and there was minimal road noise. My only beefs with the car was that it could use a little more power along with refinement at low engine speeds. The dash board controls were confusing and the turninng lever was very flimsly. Otherwise interior materials were good and comfortable. I think that the german feel to the car is related to the fact that it was designed in Germany.

I have not been a big fan of american made cars but if I was looking for a high milage compact car the Focus would be tops on my list right now over all the imports.
