Frank Van Alstine of avahif.com just gave me his new 600R hybrid tube power amp to review for the week end. It is rated for 2 ohm loads and puts out about 600wpc at 4 ohms. I will post a review later this weekend. Its going to be fun!

BR, I was looking at the V.A. product line the other day. Interesting electronics and I think TAS gave one of the V.A. integrated's a Golden Ear award. Are you going to put the amp on the PSB's?

LeRoy, right now I am using it with my Magnepan QR 1.6's but this weekend I will try it with the PSB B6's and Monitor Audio S1's which are $500 and $650pr respectively. I got to hear this amp on Frank Van Alstine's $7K Salk Veracity HTR-3's and I was blown away. Just in the 1 hour of listening with my Maggies the amp is a noticable improvement over my Parasound in sound stage, transparency, resolution and space between insturments. Bass has more depth and sounds more natural.

Whats that Amp cost? The Vincent SA-T1 has a matching set of mono amps, hybrids that sell for $2195....don't know if I want them at that price....and you wont find them used.

The 400R at 400wpc at 4 ohms is $2550 and the 600R is $2950. The amps are getting up there in price compared to his prior 350 and 550 amps. They are still worth the price because they definitely could sell for twice that if they were in nice fancy cases and had a name like CJ, AR, MAC, etc. behind them. The benefit of buying a piece of AVA gear is that they are constantly making improvements and offer the upgrades at reasonable and affordable prices. They even offer an upgrade for the 350 and 550 FET Valve amps to turn them into the 400 and 600R amps. Plus you can pick up the phone and get a hold of Frank VA or Dean one of his engineers at any time. It's also 100% american made.

I've never owned (or even auditioned) a piece of AVA gear, but I have nothing but respect for brands that offer that kind of service... Upgradability is a strong selling point in HiFi...
