Just wondering if anyone else managed to catch the NHL's Heritage Classic outdoor hockey game in HD? For those of you who missed it, it was truly one of the more spectacular events ever caught in HD IMO. Of course, I'm a Canadian -- and therefore a big hockey fan -- so I'm somewhat biased towards the sport.

Keith:

Greetings from a fellow Canuck. I just wanted you to know I totally agree with you about the HD hockey broadcast. It was very well done and came across with very few glitches - if any. Excellent quality. From what I understand, Hockey Night in Canada is looking to do more broadcasts in the near future ! Gotta love it.

Did not get to see it. Down here in the States unless you got the Hockey satalite(Center Ice) package or live on the boarder(Buffalo/Detroit, etc)and get Hockey Night you got totaly nothing. Oh sure they showed it on ESPN Classic but we don't get that. I think we(the entire USA broadcasting deal)really dropped the ball on this for Hockey fans. Probably a game I will never se unless it comes out on VHS/DVD. I was pissed and let ESPN know. Instead they ran some LAME A$$ game that no one cares about I think some krapy college football game. Man sorry but even though its weeks later when I think about that im still mad. I thought for sure it would be on and I was looking forward to getting home and cracking a brew and watching the game. I set down and its college football(2 lame teams)and thats it.

Since I got HDTV in Oct. and am a sports junkie, I always thought hockey and soccer look the best on the high def. Something about that white ice with all those colors and that perfect reception just make it jump out at ya. And those are not even my favorite sports.

Keith, I just bought this HDTV and what a steal currently at $1,888 CDN,
I am pretty sure you have this TV from previous posts I have seen here,
are you loving it as much as I am?

If you're referring to the 47" Panasonic widescreen, I would say yes, I am. Of course, my set had some fairly substantial issues associated with it (red-push, blooming and poor geometry) and Panny's are notoriously poor performers right out of the box. However, after some tweaking via a calibration disc, I managed to get my picture considerably better. And, after getting in a calibration specialist, my picture now rivals any set on the market!

You might want to have a look on-line to see if there are any easy 'tweaks' for your set (e.g. red-push fix, blooming etc) since even the newest Panny's have these problems that are relatively easy to fix on your own. That being said, if you're really enjoying the set and don't see any problems, ignore what I just said and keep enjoying yourself!!!!
