I've been playing this CD a bunch for the last month or so, especially this song, The Words That Maketh Murder, and the one right before it, The Glorious Land, both strong anti-war songs. Jools has one of the best music shows ever, as most of you know. Check out the big feather head dress she's sporting for this performance :)

I love Polly Jean and her run-against-the-wind sense of style. The feathered headdress may be a bit much for my tastes but she always remains relevant. For my own tastes, I tend to eschew overtly political music but she makes it work.
My own SotD is a bit more upbeat, at least in key and pace though not topically. A little rawk for spring, as it were...

Hehe, kinda reminds me of Cher in some cheesy Vegas show. But she looks like she's having fun, and I wound up having fun with it too. She carries it off with a certain elegance and charm. I think she just likes to play around sometimes. But yea, probably not something you want to take on the road.

I've been lovin' the new PJ too. Really got me back into her after the last couple left me tepid...even White Chalk, which had some lovely moments, kinda bored me. But, yes, great album. I just saw that she has done a video for every song on the album and they're all out now --> HERE (http://pitchfork.com/news/42415-pj-harvey-completes-ilet-england-shakei-video-project-watch-all-and-everyone-video/).
Also, thanks to a BobSticks rec., I'm a big fan of Holly Golightly and the Brokeoffs too. Really enjoy her last release (Medicine County) and need to look out for more - Used to listen to her Thee Headcoatees stuff but this new whiskey-soaked country-noir jag is right up my alley.
