I picked up their new disk Tao of the Dead yesterday but haven't had a chance to listen to it yet.

However, I was checking out some live videos on YouTube and I have to say...the singer sucks!!! I like his voice on the CDs, I mean it's not a great voice, but at least it's in tune. Most of the videos were pretty bad with him falling in and out of tune regularly.

Seriously, for the success these guys have, you'd think he'd take a few vocal lessons or something.

I ask that question about many singers (screamers) these days. Maybe this was one where just the downloaded files would have been the better choice, huh? :)

What did you decide about that question, I never saw your review of suggestions.

Oh, that. I'm not ready to give up CDs yet. So even thought I rarely listen to the hard copy, for now I'm continuing to buy them. Two reasons, no better backup than the original disk and, I like having all the artwork and liner notes.

The artwork is the best thing about this band.

Never could get into these guys. Cool band name though.

The new disk has it's moments, but I'm not enjoying it as much as past disks. They admittedly tried to be more proggy on this disk, citing Genesis and Yes as some of their influences, but it's not working for me. They should have stuck to their past formula of being pop-metal.
