Not only did he put together a lengthy 22 track compilation, but he also wrote 3 pages of notes, commenting on each track. To say that I was impressed would be an understatement.

Anyway, the overall content was much better than average, and a few tracks were clearly outstanding. One of my faves was Citizen's Arrest 2005 by Jason Anderson. His comments about it were "it's one of the most glorious slices of Indie-minded pop I've ever known", and I agree.

He featured a lot of local talent from the Minneapolis, most of whom I've never heard of except for Kid Dakota (have West is the Future) and Walt Mink (have El Producto), and most are pretty darned good. I especially liked The Simple Lie by Volante, Here in This Place by Elada, Signal to Trust by The Herald If You Ever Say by Jeff Hanson (he sounds like a girl) who died from a drug overdose last year according to Rae's notes. How sad.

Other notable songs are Everything Is from Neutral Milk Hotel, You Make Me Die from Elf Power, Comedy Heights by Steve Forbert, and Verti-Go-Go by Frisbie. That last one was a great power pop tune. They remind me of someone but I can't put a finger on it. Maybe Tommy Keane?

Overall a very nice job by Rae and there's not one dud on the cd. Not one.

Thanks Rae!

Aww, thanks Swishy!

That song "Citizen's Arrest" is certainly one of my favorites. It's a rerecording of one on his earlier Wolf Colonel album Something/Everything. I appreciate it more having heard the original, which buries its pop perfection under a layer of reverb and noise.

Stone gets all the credit for that Frisbie tune.
