I am looking at replacing the 2 SONY cubes I am using for surrounds. It looks like either Infinity Primus 140's or Polk Audio Monitor 30's.

I am leaning toward the Polks but wondered what the folks here think.

Thanks :smile5:

With only the two choices I would agree with you that the Polk would be my pick. My last experience trying Infinity I found them terribly unbalanced with the tweeter seemingly louder than the woofer, even after some break in time.

Thanks Mr. Peabody, I am also considering Cerwin Vega VE-5M for the surrounds.

Some of the older Infinity Monitor series is not too bad I have a couple of 2000.2's that are nice little bookshelf speakers. Overall I would agree with Mr. P and go with the Polk's. I have an all Polk HT system in the bedroom with Monitor 10's in the front and R150's in the rear. If size is an issue you might want to look at the something on the used market from the Polk R/T/M series. If you want something larger the RTi38 is a very versatile speaker as well. All of them can being hung from the wall as well w/o needing special brackets.

Any reason not to use Polk all around? Have you looked at similar priced speakers from Energy or Epos?

I just sold the SONY 5.1 speaker system that the 2 cubes I was using for surrounds belonged to. So I really only need surrounds right now. I think the Polk Monitor 30's are probably the best fit.

Cyto, I'm sorry, I didn't pay attention to your signature, with your current set up go ahead and stick with Infinity. I think going with rears closer to your fronts sound will be most important.
