I don't know what high-end speakers I would compare my modded LS-12's with. Not really high-end, but I would like to get my hands on some Sony ES or Pioneer Elite speakers and have a go.

Speakers I've had next to them have been Klipsch to Martin Logan. I'd take the damn Martin Logans.. I'm pushing the Sony ES - Cerwin Vega thing to its limit and moving on to a 2-channel system. Maybe something by Cambridge and some speakers that would make panties drop; if I was wearing some!

Snell speakers would be a close comparison, because I have Peerless of Denmark midrange speakers in my CV's. Peerless are in Snell cabinets, Dali, and even a couple CV's. Also older JBL's and only because I have a pair of LX55's that sing. The crossovers look like what I built for my LS-12's.

The biggest difference I have from high-end speakers are the cabinets. A big difference and many times the only difference in high-end speakers. Furniture is often sold as audio equipment to the more checkbook confident tone deaf audio over-doers. More power to you if you have great speakers in great furniture..

I'm not sure what sound is like at sea level, but us high folks got some sound. I'm seeing OHM, B&O, Dynaudio with Carver, Parasound, and McIntosh. I have nowhere to glote just like in here. You A-holes have some nice and crazy stuff.

I'm more of a Mad Dog 20/20 Peach's & Cream kind of guy in an alleyway before a show. My music choices are from chamber music to death metal and my other tastes include brunets. I'm pushing towards a Sony 5600ES and an ES 5-disc blu ray if they ever make one. Also reading up in here on home theaters.

I've been pushing 2-channel from my system with little attention to the HT. The center is gone, the subwoofer is gone, the rears need to be found within CV, and a room needs to be built.

What CV's replace Klipsch SF2's as rear channels?
What would you think of a complete mod of a CV HT-210C 2-channel center?
Are there any AC fans in here?
What Sony ES amplifiers are recommended?

If "CV" is cerwin vegas, then nothing. The best "CV " is car stereo speakers compared to the worst Klipsch(where CV got their start)

Peeps waste their time on all sorts of things

I love air conditioning

What Sony ES amplifiers are recommended?

Depends on what you intend to use em for. Fill em full of concrete and they make great
boat anchors. When it comes to amps, Sony is a great TV manufacturer.
I WILL NEVER understand why peeps try to make a pig run a marathon.
THERE ARE SO MANY amp companies out there, they specialize in amps.
They have army's (well, platoons) of audio engineers doing nothing but audio design.
And you want an amp from a company that made its nut in the TV business.
SURE Sony has an ES line, "high end" for them, about as good as mainstream Onkyo.
I had one of the "mainstream" (top of the line) whiskey receivers(made to sell, not use)
and the less said about that the better.
AS for good speakers being built like furniture , the fact that you don't understand this
speaks volumes.
Not trying to hurt your feelings, but this is the part in the movie where the duct tape comes off of the mouth.
CERWINS ARE CRAP, any speaker from Sony is CRAP. Seems like you head towards
the cheapest junk like a laser beam.
ANY salmon will tell you that swimming upstream is difficult but rewarding. Being of
poor means it has taken awhile to make my rather modest system. I didn't do it swimming
downstream, it was hard. I used junk when I couldn't afford otherwise, but bought better
when I could. takes awhile. You think the people on this site bought all of their gear at once? MOST followed an upgrade path, took awhile to get to where they are.
You need to quit hanging around the low rent side of town. Buy a decent pair of speakers,
then a decent integrated amp. When you can get a Cambridge integrated amp for cheap,
why waste your time with Sony junk?
A MODEST set of bookshelves and a decent integrated amp, and a few good sources,
would not only be more elegant, but would sound a heck of a lot better than the redneck
heaven you currently reside in.:1:

Thank god you didn't have to say all that out loud; we'd have to mop up the floor from ya.. This is the part in the movie where I help you pick up the soap.

Its miraculous anal conceptions like yourself that keep me in business. Just keep forking out the cash and buying my BS. Integra I believe is a division of Onkyo, Cerwin Vega got their start in concert speakers, and Sony-Onkyo-Samsung- have the same AK-47 pointed to their army's of audio engineers heads.

I had a pair of those B&W 602 S2 speakers - those bi-ampable, kevlar? cones, and tweeters from hell. I should have kept them to get some respect, but now I don’t want it! They had a busted tweeter and I sold them as-is to buy up some cheap car speakers. They were nice well built with great materials and excellent drivers. The msrp on them wasn’t bad and with your amplifier(I have no idea) they must be pretty fine.

Your BS system is nice and even if you paid full price it seems fair. Touche’

Sony's SS-AR1 is a significant loudspeaker
http://www.laocaudiosociety.net/images/January2011/p04.jpg

(O0o*o0O) (http://forums.audioreview.com/member.php?u=310753), i have to agree with you on the civility issue but REALLY, cv does NOT come close to even a used pair of dynaco a25s for decent sound quality. only the ones i mentioned reviewed in tas are worthy of inclusion in discussion of decent sounding speakers.

your cabinet/furniture reference is laughable. and looking at more mass market amplification components like sony ES is going to keep you from getting better sound than you already have. break down and buy something like a pair of used vandersteens and some used adcom electronics (the 5400 amp is quite powerful for the rating of 125wpc.

btw, you are BOTH wrong about sony speakers, they just came out with some high end examples, see the pic. oyeah, they sound great. they wont be sold with the HT systems at frys or best buy, i assure you.

I have a center fold of those Sony speakers myself. Right above the pisser! I had a pair of SS-K30ED, but they were in box and left in box.

I'm not really in too Adcom amps, but I'm not really sure about amplifiers. I'm around many high end models and so far I like Krell, Parasound maybe, and a few others I can't think of.

I read your reply this morning hifitommy and went out to look at some cheap speakers in my neighborhood. Look at what I just happen to come along.

$48.26

So, now you're bragging about the fact that you had a $60 speaker, designed to compete with the Radioshack Insignia speakers. And you're therefore implying that you've heard every sony speaker and didn't like them, because you "had a pair, but never took it out the box"?

then you go on, saying you don't like Adcom (even though it's more decent than everything else you own), and when we scroll down a little more, we see that you've bought one anyway...

make up your mind boy...

anyway... Even though I haven't been here since the beginning of this site, I already lost count of how many people were raving about Cerwin Vega's being the best speakers, and that they needed moar of it. Of course, as it would happen, all these people discribe themselves as "audiophiles" on their profile too. Then most of them also continue asking with what sony receiver (or other big box brand) to "make them sing"...

as for the answer: it's always the same.

CV is loud, that's about it. Even an upgrade, new crossovers, heck, even new cabinets, would not make them any better than mediocre, at best. But if loud is what you want, it's a good solution. As far as I can make out of your posts, loud is what you're looking for, although you keep saying you want something good.

well, in that case, Pixelthis, was absolutely right. There is simply no sense in buying a sony receiver. they made great things in the past, and they make great tv's now, but there is what it stops, TV's, and occasionally, a very expensive pair of speakers, that is not selling that well because other speakers of the same price range, perform way better.

so, NO sony stuff. none.

if you're planning to buy a receiver, for home theatre use, at a normal price, look at Denon, Yamaha, Onkyo, heck, even Pioneer's latest series appears to be good, but I'm not a pioneer fan, and I still wonder why all their receivers consequently weigh 2kg (or more) less than the competitor's offering.

you said there are people with great gear, for which I thank you. And you could be like that too, but please don't go the sony/CV route then...

Keep them spinning,
Bert.

I'm not pissing on the SS-AR1 speakers; I'm jerking off. And I sold those "$60" pair of speakers you googled and read two sentences about. I never said I didn't like Sony speakers even-though I do, you spaz. At the same time I never said I heard them all either so the dark prince only knows..

I bought the Adcom, because I got a deal and I plan on selling it to someone like you. I have a whole apartment filled with audio equipment. I buy, sell, and trade to support my audiophilia.

My system doesn't sound better and nether does yours. Its preference. If audio equipment is what makes you endowed then yes - you have a bigger member. If you call me boy again your member is going to have a pocket right behind your balls.

The only reason your talking all high is because someone like me sold you. I'm enjoying this pizza, because someone like you bought it. So I thank you sugar-tits for your purchase.

You're alright going after the only one I have left swinging! You're like me.:p Always wear a cup..

Your system seems to be one to die for and off this ones income bracket. I'm really into Thiel speakers and who isn't into McIntosh. Your system appears to not even need to be turned on to enjoy.

Just don't ever get married.

Do you have a parent that was into audio shizer?

Please folks keep in mind - this is a family oriented forum - please keep the bad lingo to a minimum.

(O0o*o0O)-my gawd, your vocabulary is lacking -(O0o*o0O)-. your self proclaimed title of "scum low life" is apparently right on the money.

i think its time for the moderators to close this toilet before it overflows.

How about another pair of LS-12s? Available online for $180 each.

What would you think of a complete mod of a CV HT-210C 2-channel center?
I'd rather not...

Are there any AC fans in here?
I'm a big fan of alternating current.
