I'm considering getting a pair of powered speakers for my computer. I know that a lot of you probably think i should get a DAC then a Integrated amp and so on but i'm just set on the powered speaker thing. I already have a stereo and I just want to go the lazy way. I've heard a lot about the Audioengine a5 and i've probably read 100 or so reviews so i'm considering those. But i'm also considering some speakers made by Swan. I cant seem to find any info about them anywhere(besides a Malaysian forum). I was considering either the Swan T200b or the M200MKiii. Does anyone know anything about these speakers or have any other suggestions for an easy set up. BTW I dont like the soundsticks nor do i like altec lansing or logitech. thanks a bunch for the help!!!

even tho the root of all evil in HT, Bose makes some nice monitor speakers under the
monitormate line. Sold a pair to a friend, still has em. Loves em.
Everybodies good at something.:1:

unfortunately I've not heard Swan speakers or those in particular - I would suggest trying to find other reviews of Swan products and make a judgement call from that.

Swan/HiVi is headquartered in China. As well as finished speakers it supplies OEM and DIY speaker drivers. Here is their website ... http://www.swanspeaker.com/default.aspx

See the T200b here (http://www.swanspeaker.com/products/products.aspx?cid=5&sid=0&pid=29), and the M200MkIII here (http://www.swanspeaker.com/products/products.aspx?cid=5&sid=0&pid=25). They are pretty serious looking computer speakers: see the respective pics ...

The swans are pretty outrageous i must say but I have a decent sized computer area. Swan looks like a pretty high quality brand but i still cant seem to get over the "made in China" thing.

I had a pair of bose computer speakers a year or two back and I hated the customer service. I dont even consider bose anymore....haha sorry just a dumb personal thing.

There has to be atleast one person thats heard/tested Swan Speakers!

Oh! also...is the audioengine subwoofer mainly just for use with movies and games? or would it add a bit to the music experience too?

I've heard a number of swan models and they were all competent designs and quality-built pieces. (there are many models I haven't heard, but the trend seems to be toward a slightly laid-back sound just to the warmish side of neutral) I haven't heard the M200 series powered monitors in particular, but I've heard from others that they are quite good for the money.

I've only heard Swan's home speakers, but I'd expect their computer speakers to be at least somewhat decent.

I think I may just take a plunge with the swans!! all the people on the malaysian forum love them. I'm gonna wait and see how the site i was going to purchase them from deals with returns and service though. That means a lot to me. Ive heard the m-audio ones and my friend has the Bowers and wilkins speakers i'm not a big fan of his and pertaining to the m-audio's they seemed too flat(in a bad way), however, it may have just been the material being played on them. Hahahaha! the more I read into this the more it makes me think maybe i should just get a integrated amp and decent passive speakers.....just a thought though.

The M200mk2 has "Walnut wood veneer/ Black flat"? That looks like the thickest "veneer" I have ever seen....................

Then decide if their complaints & criticisms are, or are not, significant and/or substantial.

One advantage of Amazon's user ratings is that Amazon will highlight the user's negative rating that was ranked as "most useful" by customers. Paid "Reviewers" always have nice things to say and they combine their positive prose with a few trivial complaints, the latter I presume intended to "show balance".

i would be looking at the audio engine products. the prices are right and they have been well received in the legitimate audio press.
