I want it good cheap and fast!

I've got a BurrBrown 1704 inside the HiFiMan HM-801 but I need a coax to use it. I'm trying to get one to run from this KingRex UC192 USB->SPDIF which will go from SPDIF of the KingRex to the mini coax on the HiFiMan to line out of the HiFiMan to my audio.

But I'd like to find something under $500 (even DIY) that I can have at home for myself - for compare and for the future onslaught of 24bit.... :frown2:

Well there seem to be a lot of them that are vinyl rips - would be interesting to hear it compared to some CDs.

I'm not sure if you want a USB DAC or an interface to convert USB to Coaxial Digital.

An interface would be the M2 Tech Hi Face RCA:

I guess I'm just looking for what chips you all think are good and some products below the $1000 price point.

Your post is confusing, but I think this is what you want. This DAC has been making great waves with budget minded audiphiles.

The Audio gd stuff is getting a lot of activity over the last year. http://www.audio-gd.com/Pro/dac/NFB-1/NFB1EN.htm

They just retired the 1704 chip after supplies dried up. Too bad cause the Reference 7 (8- 1704 chips) really sounds much more expensive than it's cost.
