Sears, for the first time, will open on Thanksgiving! Some retailers are saying that
"black friday" will be the fri two weeks before THANKSGIVING, basically "black friday"
for the two months before Christmas.
Not that anybodies desperate or anything....:1:

Most panels that size will be 720p, like the SAMSUNG 32" at Kmart. I would scrape up an

Man you should jump all over those Tekton 4.5OB's for $475. That's only about $200 over what you were willing to pay for raw drivers of unknown quality. Those Tektons will image and detail better than the Zu's.

I wish I could! My first choice was to buy a pair of Tektons (rather than DIY) but the shipping cost is a killer... Those 4.5s will nearly double in price with shipping, while the AN drivers will be around $350 with shipping to Jamaica...

Oh hey pix...question. If I use the 5.1 analog outputs, will it be decoding the newest formats of Dolby and DTS? I am between pro's right now. Mine isn't the newest. It does the old school formats fine and sounds great with the BR hooked up by toslink.
The manual doesn't say which format the Aquos will decode before streaming to the amp.

depends on the disc. My player doesnt have analog 7.1 out, but when I had the SONY
it output LPCM, BASICALLY converted everything to LPCM which played and sounded great
on my 7.1 receiver. BUT YOU NEVER KNEW what you were getting, so I got the sharp,
which tells my new receiver what is what. You should have LPCM on the display, or something similar. HAVE TO LOOK on the box (or hit the display button) to see what it is.
I had a devil of a time getting my old BLu player to behave, a disc had to have LPCM
to work decent, and most are DTS MASTER, AND one of those usually played
whatever you call the "wideband" old DTS, dts + or something like that.
Sounded great, but when I played CASINO ROYALE in LPCM I knew my receivers
days were numbered.
And when you factor in HDMI switching and new format decoding, and computer EQ
schemes like Audussey, a new receiver was a no brainer.
Thought I could streach out the life of my old receiver, but sometimes you just have to
bite the bullet. Run Audussey and I AM A HAPPY LITTLE BOY.
Hated to get rid of such a nice receiver after four years(a 1200 dollar Integra), but a
man has to do what a man has to do. BESIDES the bill collectors have to catch me to get the new one back.:1:

Thanks pix. You are no doubt correct. I do have to get a new one. My older Sony suddenly died one day...forever locked in protection mode it seems. My current model is an RCA and is quite old. I have become complacent but I think the BD will push me into buying something. I really love the Emotiva stuff. Their 5 channel amp looks fantastic, I bet it sounds amazing. I could input the BD straight into that, but I have cable to think about too.

HOLD YOUR HOSS...still plenty of cheap junk with the lifespan of a fruitfly out there
for the penny wise pound foolish crowd.
Great way for stores to clear out inventory smart shoppers wouldnt touch without a bottle
of JACK, sure there will be a boatload of returns later, but beats putting them in the crusher.
BESIDES, it gets them as a customer. So go on out there, still plenty of cost 50 bucks to make stuff out there, like whiskey, made to sell, not use.
SO GET OUT THERE, risk your life for some POS made on a rice paddy somewhere
by twelve year olds.:1:

Btw, My BluRay player hasn't even been shipped by Panasonic yet 7th day and still waiting.
Called the online sale support department on Monday and Wednesday(30+ mins hold) and I got same stories from Rep that they were closed from Thanksgiving to Sunday after that and order processing department is backlogged.
Why don't they put enough information on your website, may be that will save customer's time and rep's time as well. I cringe thinking that multi-billion dollar corporations spends multi-million dollars on Information Technology but a customer still can not login and get up-to-date information on their own order. And btw, did I mention that their website was broken? You login and see nothing but links in bright Blue Time Roman font and little red x marks in place of images all over the page. Fortunately their product is not as bad as their web-site and support.
