I just picked up a Rotel RX-1050. It's from 9 or 10 years ago before Subs were big in audio setups. It has A-B speaker connections and a Pre out and a Zone 2 out.

Does anyone know the correct method to hook a sub up to this unit? I tried the pre out with a Y cable but it seemed to have defeated the regular output. I ran out of time last night to play with the B speaker outputs.

TIA

Does your sub have speaker level inputs/outputs?

If your sub has RCA in's and out's that what I would try first. If it only has RCA in's and speaker level in's and out's I would connect the B outputs from the receiver to the sub. The last and to some the first way is to use the A outputs on your receiver and the speaker in and out connections on the sub.
Some manufacturers (REL) recommend the speaker level connections.

Then you could connect your speaker wires to it and then run speaker wires out of the sub to the speakers. But then the sub's crossover will stop the lower frequencies from getting to your mains.
You may be able to bypass the crossovers by connecting the sub in parallel instead of in series.
