I was in Peabodys man cave last night ad thought I would put pictures up of his gear. Also a pic of Mr P himself in one of them.

That is his new Klipsch "Academy" center channel to replace the Dyn center channel. Its standing up instead of laying down. You can see the Dyns center channel behind it. I never got a chance to listen to the Academy because as always...the music is just to dam good.

This is the left Klipsch "Forte" that replaces the Dynaudio Towers. They are much more open and reveiling with music.

These are the CJ mono blocks amps. Each at 100W per channel. In my opinion, these babies are not to...to warmly toned nor or they really lively. They have great bottom end punch and have quite a good pace to them. Seems to have power in reserve. And to see them in person with the tubes a glow is just stunning. These pictures dont do them justice. IF these where mine, they would be out in the open with nothing around them. Amps this good should be out as if they where museum pieces. But hey they are not mine.

This is his preamp. This is also a nice piece. I assume its the Conrad Johnson sound to be warm toned but towards neutral. I thought CJ's sound was really really warm but last night with the Klipsch I discovered it was the Dynaudio that was clouding and putting a veil over the presentation of the Conrad Johnson and not the CJ its self. It has very good high end extension and can put out a thunderous bottom end as well. I would love to listen to this side by side with the Acoustic Research Ls 16 which is more lively in its presentation and sorta has a sophistication to its sound especially with the cymbals that seem to be velvety and seems to have depth of instruments. Not saying the CJ does not have it....I just haven't listened the way I want to listen and last night I was really tired after working 7 days in a row.

This is the T+A CDP. This is pure SS. ITs fast and detailed. What more can I say.

And heres the old boy himself. This is one rack of his albums and CD's. He also collects african bongos. You can see some of them sitting on top of the vinyl rack... And he messes around with Key boards and guitar.

Heres the Dyns....I am not a big fan of Dyns. Too warm and laid back with a heavy bottom end that in my opinion just over powers everything else. But hey...we all like different things and sounds. Notice the Bryston amp on the bottom shelf?

Nice pictures... Great setups... Now if only Mr. Peabody didn't have glowing, demonic, red and yellow eyes! lol

Is he still planning to get an Emotiva amp? (I notice the Bryston at the bottom of the Emotiva setup)...

Speaking of amps: where did all the Krells go???

Nice gear. This is my favorite.

I still have the Krell 500i, it's boxed up for now. That's what I need to drive the Dyn's but I have no more room.

Short of it, I did not buy the Emo amp. I put in an email to get a raincheck, they emailed me back eventually and said they are back in stock to call. Well they are open when I'm at work. By the way we are now getting into the long of it. I told them to put it on my credit card that I charged the other gear on. They told me they do not keep CC#'s on file for security. Oddly, though they still had it to give me a credit for an item returned. So it seemed to me they didn't want to sell one very bad. Then in the course of things I ended up with 3 other amps. I found the Bryston for a good price which is another brand I wanted to try, right after making that deal I found the small Adcom and Parasound on CL. I was just going to get one of them but the guy wanted a quick sell and shot me a deal on both.

The Bryston is a 3BST, it has a huge bottom end and not as fast or controlled as Krell. I like the mids and highs, a bit warmer than I expected. It is also a brute for it's power rating. It drives the Dyn's great but in that small room the bass is some what over powering.

Nice gear there MrP. I am envious of the CJ gear. One of these days when I'm done paying for the kids college, I am going to buy a CJ tube amp to power the Magnepan 3.6's (or the Salk HTR3's) that I will also buy.

Wow I feel like I was just let in to to see the great wizard. Unfortunately I can't see the man behind the curtain as the photo does not seem to upload.

That is some awesome looking gear and I appreciate Frenchie taking the time to send photos so that I can finally connect the gear to the set-up. If it sounds half as good as it looks then I'd probably never leave the room.

Must be nice to have Adcom gear just sitting in the shadows.

I feel totally different about this opinion, I feel that Klipsch are brighter and maybe lively but are not quite as controlled adn accurate as the Dynaudio speakers. I have heard plenty of Klipsch speakers and while some do sound pretty good they just don't appeal to me as the dynaudio's do. I know everyone has opinions about what kind of sound to like and I suppose having different equipment gives you the ability to change the aspect of the sound when you want to hear something different and that would be cool and I have been at Mr Peabody's house so I know about the man cave and the different equipment he has to play with. I just thought the t2.5's sounded very good with the cj gear.

Hi Harley! Sorry I missed you. I had wanted to come over the day you where at Peabodys but I got the time mixed up.

Yeah we all like different sounds that for sure. I prefer a more lively sound with lots of detail especially in the upper ranges of the music. I also prefer a more transparent sound with air. I find the reference line of Klipsch to deliver the sound. IF we speak about accurate in a speaker, that can only mean one thing in audio. free from error. The Forte seemed in my opinion very true to the reproduction of the sound....it was a very accurate speaker. The bass is very natural sounding on the Forte....not boosted or fake sounding or bloated in the bottm end at all. Just a very nice natural sounding bottom end. The horns....while still being horns do have a very nice lively sound, and also may I add....with sparkle. They sound less horn sounding than the Heresys....but they are not quite the sound of a traditional tweeter, but they do infact sound great. Now I would agree that on loud complicated music, the Fortes does not have the control that the Dyns have. There is a passage on Pink Floyd's Album "Dark Side of The Moon" that Peabody and I like to play at loud levels that is a complicated passage. We both firstly noticed the passage at a friends house while listening to a pair of Gallo speakers that lost controlled on the passage. We then listened to the passage on the Heresys in Peabodys cave and they too lost control on the passage. Next we played it on the Dyns and there was no break up. Total control by the Dyns. The Forte the other night on the same passage had some break up, but not as much as the other speakers.

In all honesty, I had not been a fan of Klipsch speakers, but I must say after Mr Peabody and I visited a few audio shops, the RF Reference line, the Palladium line and the vintage Fortes have got my attention. Let me add, this is very different line than the Synergy line by Klipsch that you find in Best Buy. There is much more engineering in the RF line , and especially the Palladium audiophile line of speakers.

The Dyns are toned with a darkness to me. They seem to put a veil over the music that is not noticed until you listen side by side with speakers that are transparent. I know I may be making some angry now, but this is what I hear while listening to Dyns. With the Dyns much upper end detail is lost, and the bottom end is over powering in my opinion. In my opinion Dyns might be a better fit with brighter solid state gear.

But let me say it again...we all like different things.

Yeah I wished I would of met you Frenchmon since we seen to have a good sense of the hobby that we have a passion for. I really liked the visit to mr peabody's home and really liked his selection of gear and I do agree that people have different ideas of what gear sounds good to them and I do agree with you that I would like to hear the palladium series klipsch seeing that they seem to be a much higher end of their newer line of speakers in comparison to the other speakers that they have been making as of late with the exception of the heritage series of speakers. I would like to hear them myself and I would agree that tube gear would be the better gear for that speakers that they build. And that Dynaudio speakers do like ss gear. Anyway maybe someday I can return and all of us get together and do some listening and hang out and listen to some different music. I think it would be fun.

I'm currently just using the tuner section of the Adcom. I could pair it with the 535 or Parasound for another system for something i guess. If you are really interested in it shoot me an email or PM.
