Hello, hello. It's been a while since I post; it's been a busy Summer. I was wondering if any of you had installed or know if it is possible (and aesthetically pleasing) to install a pop-up light on a TT, like the ones on the technics 1200mk2.

Thanks from New Jersey!

E

poppa, on a Technics SL1200, you have a small light that pops up when you push it in (it's like a button, that pops up), and it shines it's light over the LP, giving you an idea of where the run in grooves are for the tracks :), and an idea of where your stylus is, in the dark when you're dj-ing in a club :p

I don't know of such a retail available button, and especially not one including a light, well, of course you're willing to install a car headlight in your turntable... :D

you could try to build something like that yourself, albeit simplified, so you have to push it in, and pull it out yourself. Shouldn't be too hard, but it needs to be made careful when you want it to look really good...

why do you need it? another option is a flex light, possibly mod it a bit, so it looks nice with your tt :)

Good luck!
Keep them spinning,
Bert.

Oh I see...I just use one of these clip on lamps. You'll have to get creative barbarian. Clearly that pop up light is proprietary to the 1200.

That's good news :)

I hope you still like the marantz, and the ADS speakers...

you could try one of these flex reading lights (http://www.amazon.com/LightWedge-Reading-Light-Touch-Black/dp/B0010T5AVY)

the pop up things are specially made for the 1200 series, and cannot be found in an aftermarket version, let alone the fact that you'd have to cut a hole in your tt :d

Keep them spinning,
Bert.

I'm glad to see you're up and running. That's a nice looking rig you've got there. All you need now is a stack of mint vinyl!

thanks for the help. this forum has greatly improved my appreciation for my records. moving into the new APT with hardwood floors improved things as well. now i can have a mosh pit or dance party next to the TT and no skipping problems arise; carpet is just terrible for TT resting on a cheap IKEA table. thanks again!!!

poppa: i am 15 minutes from Phila, not NYC. But definitely drop me a line if you're in the neighborhood. Take care.
