I have a neighbor who is having to relocate his theater system into the living room. The problem is running wires to the surround speakers. Due to logistical considerations, the usual remedies (running wires behind baseboards, under wood floor, through attic) just won't work.
I recall reading about stand-alone wireless systems that can be hooked up to his receiver (transmitters) and to his speakers (receivers). This would seem to be the answer to his problem.
My question is this: which wireless system sucks the least? I know that there are sonic compromises inherent to all wireless systems, but which one would do the least harm (and not cost the equivalent of a Lexus)? Or, is a listenable, affordable wireless system something that does not yet exist?
