Dude was 82. ( I know he was no Roger Dean, but c'mon:

A true icon of my adolescent world, which included a pretty steady diet of pulp sci-fi and fantasy novels.

I wondered if that Wolfmother cover was inspired by Frazetta, but I didn't know he did it.

I've never heard of him. But I always thought that Wolfmother cover was pretty cool.

Frazetta was a genius. His brilliance lies in the fact that he never used photo reference for his paintings like virtually every other 20th century pulp illustrator. He painted his minds eye, a true master.

I had one of his books when I was a teenager into that kind of fantasy art, along with Roger Dean, and the Hilderbrandt brothers. Now that I think about it, other than Roger Dean, they may have been fantasy art calenders or Lord Of The Rings related art.
