LG LCD receive THX Display Certification

LG new slim design INFINIA LE9500 and LE8500 Series (47-, and 55-inch class sizes) LCd TVs have achieved THX Display Certification– the industry standard for having the correct gamma, luminance, and color temperature.

This certification demonstrates that select series of LG HDTVs can recreate the cinema experience at home, making the picture resemble movie theatre quality. To date, LG is the only manufacturer who has attained this designation for LCD TV in the U.S. market.

THANX for the heads up.
Not too surprized, tho, the last (52") LG I saw blew my socks off.
Not bad for a company that used to make Goldstar VCRS.
But I got to thinking and my old Goldstar worked fine, and never broke.:1:

I'm not trying to start a fight But, Does the "THX" logo even mean anything??? I have read many posts blasting them for being a pay to play type group that’s cares little about the quality they are suppose to represent, most resent case the whole Lexicon Blu-Ray blunder. I have heard nothing but great thing about the LG LCD's, so I’m not knocking them but is the THX logo a badge of honor or just another meaningless logo stamp on some electronics???

But I got to thinking and my old Goldstar worked fine, and never broke.:1:

Goldstar made good TVs, but terrible VCR since I owned both back in early 90's. Their TV was loaded with features and decent picture for low price. But their VCR was legendary for eating up VHS tapes quite often. They seem to have come quite a long way since then.

I just read controversial story regarding Lexicon and Oppo Blu-ray player regarding THX, and one does question the viability of tHX logo on a product. Hopefully THX will be more consistent in their approval of consumer video products since their bread and butter is video.
