Hey guys,

I could find a thread for this so apologies if this has already been asked.

I work in a music shop and we have 8 listen stations all wired up but only one cd player, so, i need to buy some more. i need a cd player with what looks like a serial port on the back, only thing is i have no idea what the the description of the "serial port" actually is.
Basically i need 7 cheap versions or something similar to the denon dcd 615.

Many many thanks in advance.

My guess is that what you need is a computer (where serial ports are found) and not a collection of CD players. The stations you find at places like Barnes and Noble which play clips from a number of different albums most likely access a computer based music server - just as you would find going to Amazon.com.

What you're describing is the RS-232C interface. How much can you afford to spend? They're pricey by comparison to the average mass-market CDP.

thanks for the response guys, jus had a look but the RS-232C is smaller then the one i need, where this is the average size of a VGA cable mine are more like a parallel connection ( sorry i said serial) like the old printer connections. arrgggg this is a nightmare

Sounds like you need a whole new system.
I would take eight portables, glue them to a board, glue a headphone into each.
But that is just me.
I am just surprized to hear of a dedicated shop still selling CD(ALTHOUGH we do have one here in town).:1:

You should find those Nakamichi listening stations that HMV and Tower Records use in Japan
