I already have powered speakers, so I either want a receiver with pre-outs or a Pre-amp seperate.
The budget is about $500 maybe more if there is nothing at that price range.
Also, having HDMI switching is a must.
Anything in this price range?

This Onkyo Tx-SR607 will foot the bill for $449 on sale. I can't think of anything better in this price range.

I don't think the 607 has the type of preouts he would need for a full 5.1 system. The 606 did not but it's hard to tell from crutchfield about the 607. I believe the preouts referred to were for the other zones.
If you could go $699.00 www.emotiva.com has a preamp processor.
Yamaha is pretty good about offering 5.1 preouts but if you are going to spend that kind of money you might as well get a preamp in hopes by not paying for amplification you won't use you may gain quality in the preamp.

What speakers are you planning to use with the receiver?
