I am on a Jackson Browne jag today.....
You won't find this on any LP but I had a bootleg tape of his and he did a song titled
" You Don't Want Me-You just Want Meat" a very poignant song about a one-night stand..... :D

And while I am on JB there are two songs; "Rosie" and "Redneck Friend" which are great titles if you understand what the song is about. Here is a hint from each-

Thanks Thekid, poppachubby, 02audionoob and Rae for interesting song titles and photos. After scanning so many titles for subject of this thread, Blues, Rap and Country seem to have more interesting song titles than other geners. And having a big hit does help in that department.

Nope. As a staunch Mayfield fan, I would like to think a song like "We People Who Are Darker Than Blue" or "Stone Junky" could be most memorable. The reality is, if anyone even remembers a Mayfield tune, it would be either Superfly or Pusherman.

Chubbs, I like your style and yes Curtis was and still is one of my favorites....but I thought his talent was much better that fiddie cents. No comparison in my book. I think I saw supper Fly about 100 times. And I love Freddies Dead.

I vote for Curtis everytime. Like others, Miles Davis, James Brown, he reinvented himself as times changed. Re-inented, not to please fashion, but to answer the voices in his head. From the "minstrel" musings of "Gypsy Woman" and "I'm the one who loves you.". To the civil rights anthems of "We're a Winner" and "Movin' on Up" and the out and out classic "People get Ready". The angrier missives of "Choice of Colors" and "If there's a hell below, we're all gonna go". And his urban hell descriptions in "Superfly". Underated, perhaps, he's one of a hanfull of artists in the RnR Hall of Fame TWICE, once for the Impressions and Once for himself. But listening to his HOF induction and what Springsteen and other's said of him... some know of his influence. However you can't mention his greatness without acknowledgin his long time collaborator and producer/arranger Johnny Pate. Together, they were genius.
