... ZZ Top Deguello of course. Santa Clause was good to me this year and brought me a Yamaha RX-797 (http://www.yamaha.com/yec/products/productdetail.html?CNTID=200028)to replace my 1978 Onkyo A-5 (http://www.hifiengine.com/manuals/onkyo/a-5.shtml). It sound great with my Klipsch RF-7s. No more static with the volume and balance controls.

Nice Yamaha Rakeford, I bet you will enjoy it especially with the RF-7!

Other than the Onkyo having old age issues, how did the Yamaha compare? Did you lose a bit of punch and detail in the low end when switching to Yamaha? Yamaha high frequencies a bit easier to listen to through the Klipsch?

Amplifiers are 99 and 44 one hundredths % pure love. I doubt anyone can really tell the difference.

I did not bother with an A/B comparison.
