I did a little Boxing Day shopping yesterday and picked up a new guitar. It's a Larrivee DV-03RE. Solid Spruce top and Rosewood body, and a satin finish. This baby is warm and deep. Lots of mid-range and great balance.

I was originally looking at a Taylor 410 Fall Limited. But then I picked up this guitar which felt and sounded just as nice at 25% less cost. After chatting up the sales guy a bit more, I was able to get him to knock off another couple hundred and ended up with a deal that I couldn't ignore.

I've been playing it all day and it's just lovely. It has great volume and sounds good whether I'm finger-picking, flat-picking or strumming. I'm not in love with the strings on it, but that's easily rectified.

I wasn't planning on buying a guitar yesterday...and I'm just posting the short version of the full story...but a chain of events led me to this guitar. And you can't mess with fate. :)

Nice cutaway. I could dig a profile pic to examine the neck as little better. Is it on the thinner/faster side? Looks like a nice guitar FA, as long as you can play Needle and the Damage Done, you can keep it.

The best presents are always the ones you buy yourself. Nice buy, FA...I await the youtube video of your performance.

You rock chick! Looks great. You'll really have to work the first few frets at the cutaway. That's when you just let the "rock" take over.

LOL. The funny thing is, as much as love me some rock music, when it comes to playing my own guitar I'm really much more of a folkie. I doubt that I'll be using the frets at the cutaway very much.
