480i and 480p, somethings wrong

Ok, I have a samsung, 53 inch t.v. It will accpet 480i and 480p, I think. When I switch my dvd player from 480i to 480p, the doubles the screen. It is split right down the middle. I don't know what it's doing. I think it's all hooked up right. It's just 3 video cables, correct?

Here's the model pck5315rx samsung and it is HDTV Ready. Any help would be great.
