Is it a good idea to get a Blu Ray player for a 720p or 1080i tv. I know I won't get the full resolution of a 1080p set.

My parents cant figure out why my set is so much better looking than theirs.
I have tried to explain that mine is 1080p.
Didn't realize just how much difference that made, used to think the difference between the two was slight.
However a Blu ray will still look good on a 720p, and when you do get a 1080p you will be ready.
Thing about Blu, its the best source out there for the consumer as far as PQ, and on a 1080p set it doesnt look "good", it looks nasty good.
Also don't forget the sound, which is the best thing since Grabriel blew his horn.:1:

Actually I have a 1080p tv (Sony 40") and a Blu ray player (also Sony) in the bedroom and the picture is excellent. I purchase this setup at a very good price last year during Black Friday. I will be shopping for another Blu ray player for the 720p (Samsung) tv. Any good recommendations.

I've been very happy with my LG BD370 on a 720p television. It plays any disc I put in it...and NetFlix, too. I avoided the approximately equal Samsung because it said on the box it doesn't play DVD+R.
