View Full Version : Borderline Dysfunctional Website

I have been requesting permission to edit one of my reviews from the site administrator for several weeks. Somewhere on this website, I found some blurb about how to edit a review already submitted and discovered contacting and requesting permission from the site administrator was the recommended procedure. Ok, fine - it seemed somewhat arcane but I followed the instructions - only to find out - my requests went into a black hole.
The administrator(s) are either too busy or not available or they simply don't care. Maybe this is just a dumping ground for people who are emotionally charged about their audio gear and in the process there's a trickle effect for manufacturers, obscene & offensive language is filtered out and there are no humans supporting the website.
OTH if webiste administrators are available and don't care, I think they should take their job a little more seriously and here's why;
Most members submit a review because they truly respect a specific product and would like to share their experience with other interested potential buyers. No doubt there are those who submit reviews out of self-interest but despite of that reviews published on this site have significant value to manufacturers because it helps their bottom line. I find the equipment reviews written by lay-persons far more objective and convincing than professionally written propaganda serving the corporate interest.
So this is an important site where everybody has something at stake. At the minimum, the website can inform the member once a review is submitted, they have no edit capability or something to that effect instead of publishing how to do something and then totally ignore the request. It's another way of saying this website is borderline dysfunctional.
Whatever the case maybe, humans or robots this site definitely needs better software and administrative support so it operates in a more responsive and professional manner.
Cheers

Hey man I understand your frustration, but understand, the administrator is inundated with things to do. If he has received your request, I can assure you it's on a list under some other priorities. Chances are, you have used a method that is not reaching him. This would be a flaw with the site, it has many, but all problems are and can be worked out.
I think you have overreacted a little bit, the entire audio industry will not crumble because your review is not 100% accurate. I know you didn't say it would, but you certainly seem panicked. You should have posted your issue as soon as you felt it existed.
Click this link and PM atomicAdam. He is the "man" so to speak. Just explain the importance of your needs and he will fix you up...

BTW he is a human, not a robot....possibly a cyborg...

I'm not sure what the problem is, I've not gotten a request to edit a review from anyone in a while, so maybe there is a problem with the email getting stuck in the spam filter, or something else.
PM or email me directly at adam@audioreview.com and let me know what you need help with.
Sorry about your frustration, there are thing I'm frustrated with as well but can't seem to be changed at the moment. But I can tell you, the only thing I truly don't care about on this site are the OT forum arguments. Request about anything else though are on my table to be taken care of. So let me help you.
Thanks

Leaving aside for a moment your obvious frustration and sarcasm, I can understand why you would have a complaint.
I've never received a single e-mail or message from you...I would have no problem trying to help your cause...just not sure why you feel the need to be so insulting...

...and the OT forum arguments are what makes AR great. :sosp:

Don't get me wrong, they aren't going anywhere, I just don't care about what happens. Who gets mad at who, who calls who and idiot, etc etc etc.
Just so long as there is not blatant racism, sexism, porn, or extreme foul language, than fine.

I noticed one of your reviews was from 2006 and the other two were from 9/2009. Which review are you interested in editing? I thought maybe they were recent reviews judging by the urgency of your post.

No but since the thread was bumped I wanted to add to it. In case he ever comes back. I missed the thread the first time.
