Never owned any Thiels, but this is certainly a loss:

:(
my condolences to the entire Thiel family.
I have alot of respect for Mr Jim Thiel.
Jim was a great man, and a great engineer, who built and designed his speakers with great love and dedication.
As an owner and a big Thiel fan myself, I can only say that his death certainly means a big loss to the audio world. He definitely deserved his place in audio heaven...
rest in peace.
Bert.

Wow, he will be missed. What a great person. I got a chance to meet him at AES one year. It was that meeting that convinced me that the CS3.7 was going to be the speaker of choice for my music mixing studio. I purchased five of them and he even went so far as to assist me in their placement.

There isn't a good speaker built today in any car or home that isn't the beneficiary of his contributions to audio.
RIP.
