Hi everyone,

I've got 2 pair of Reference 3a speakers from my father since 1995, however, I'm gonna to moving overseas, I can't keep both of them anymore, and I would trying to sell both of them.

But I don't know any specification and the value of them.

Is there anyone can help? What model are they and how much they worth now?

Many thanks

You will only get a fraction of their initial price. If you are moving permanently I would ship them to your new home. Speakers will work anywhere in the world. If you plan on returning to north America store them or leave them with a friend.

You have some of the best speakers available - they're worth keeping because the used market is an unkind place.

Thank you for your reply, since I know they are wonderful speakers, but I already have another few set of them at my home country, that's why I planning to sell them. However they still work very perfectly.

So hope I can have an idea of the selling price.

Thanks

You might want to try audiogon for pricing info. I actually don't know if there is blue book on electronics...I think there is but I don't know where to locate it or it's real name. Good luck with the sale.

There is an audio blue book - but like most things you can probably sell for more than that rate - depending on the market of course. Typically you take the retail price and if the speaker is out of warranty then you'll get about 1/4 of the original retail price. Highly sought after products may go for more - the bigger Reference 3a (I can't remember their names) may be more prized than the little 3A. They look like smaller De Capo's to me. Still Reference 3a should carry a bit of a reputation but the problem is people can buy a new Reference 3a Dulcet for around $1500. A 14 year old speaker - I'm guessing $500 - $900 for the little ones.

Audiogon and e-bay may give you a ballpark figure.

The audio blue book is available here but it is not free http://cgim.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/bb.pl

You have a VERY RARE pair of Reference 3A Serie Master Master Control MMC Monitors made in Loudun, France. Don’t be fooled by low-ball estimates or appraisals by people who would like to “steal” them from you. These speakers were $5000 when new, are extremely desirable, and are worth $5000+ today. While they are very similar in appearance to other Reference 3A monitor speakers such as the Dulcet, the Serie Master Master Control MMC Monitors were hand-built by the original designer, Daniel Dehay. There were less than 100 made and they are VERY collectible. Not to mention, they sound magical and are unmatched by anything made today.

I was thinking about offering to buy them. I've heard good things about this line. Looks like I can't afford them anymore : )

Thanks a lot!!!

Hey,

I don't mean to forum jump or anything, but my brother just gave me a pair of black speaker cabinets cabinets. I was trying to figure out what they are. He got the from a mastering engineer he was interning for. The drivers are gone.On the back it says Master Control MMC. It is the same as the pictures posted here except for the missing grill, drivers, and the bottom of the back part where it said reference 3a and lounden france.
there should be some photos here if it worked right, but its not.

peace,
Matt
