I just watched 12 Angry Men tonight. It stars Henry Fonda. It occurs almost entirely in a jury deliberation for a murder trial.

What are YOU watching?

I just watched the Soloist. I thought the movie rocked as like always, Jamie Fox is not acting, he is the part! All in all, great to see a movie without violence and foul language along with a good positive message.

I actually was not aware it was based on a true story until the end and watching the extras.

A computer screen with spreadsheets, email, and the occasional dip into AR.

Just kidding. I saw A History of Violence last. It's violent, but predicable.

Watched a rerun of "Empire of the Sun" last night. Christian Bale was also a very good actor in his youth. One of the opening scenes where he is singing in the choir, the organ had amazing depth to the lower octaves, impressive for a movie sound track.

the wife and I have been catching up with MadMen. We have two episodes left from season 2 while we dvr season 3. We've almost caught up to real time. We're lovin' this series. Excellent writing, acting, sets, costumes, etc. Season 1 dvd set is around $15 since season 2 came out last month. Buy it or rent it.

Just finished the first season of "6 Feet Under", which we missed on first broadcast. Really outstanding, one of the best TV series ever. I want to have a lime green hearse as a daily driver.

Saw "I Love You Man" earlier this week and loved that too. Infantile and hilarious.

I saw "12 Angry Men" earlier this year (because it was one of the only english-speaking movies in the IMDB top 200 that I hadn't seen) and was totally engrossed by it. A must see.

We rented the first "Mad Men" DVD, but were bored by it. The 60s art direction and vibe were nice, but the show felt predictable and obvious. Unlike "6 Feet Under", which confounded and surprised me at every turn.

Hey Troy - I remember watching 6 Feet Under and deciding it was a show I wanted to keep up with, but I never worked it into my schedule. But that was 2001 to 2005. I think I was more into movies than tv at the time. Hadn't thought about catching it on dvd until you brought it up.

Saw I Love You Man too. I also liked Forgetting Sarah Marshall. I had a theory that Jason Segel's Hollywood saga was the opposite of stereotypical. He went to Hollywood to be a porn star, couldn't make it and wound up in big studio stuff. There were clues all through Forgetting and quite often on How I Met Your Mother, but not so much in I Love You, Man. I guess I could be wrong.

I find Mad Men methodical at times and boring at times. It's somewhat predictable, but at the same time I know what a character is going to do, I'm pulling for him (mostly Don) not to do it. That tension keeps me watching. Season 2 becomes more serious with more mystery and intrigue and more risks taken by certain characters. I've just gotten to Don's trip to ___ (might be a spoiler) which was a complete surprise. Oh, and the change of scenery from a Manhattan office to _____ was perfection.

I've been meaning to start watching Dexter, but haven't taken the time. Burn Notice looked marginally appealing. Any recommendations on these two?

It's funny, but those HBO/Showtime shows like 6 Feet Under, Sopranos, True Blood and my personal favorite, Deadwood feel more like movies than TV shows to me. Band of Brothers was incomparable as well. I mean, I get that they're serialized hour long pieces shown once a week, but when viewed several episodes at a time on DVD, they really play like movies.

Never tried Dexter, I need to get on that. I didn't like Wire, Carnivale or Rome. Nurse Jackie is good too and the first 2 seasons of Weeds is brilliant (but it lost it's way after leaving Agrestic), but I find the 30 minute format too short to build a story. The only 30 minute pay-cable series that really doesn't feel cramped for me is Flight of the Conchords. It's fragmented quality is what I like about it.

Jason Segel is too schlumpy for porn. No way.

That's why he never made it in porn. Poor guy had to give up his dream and whore himself.
