Ok, bit new, hopefully I came to right place :D.

I have a nice PC, lots of music, make my own mixes, etc.

I dig underground hip hop, electronic music, reggae. So I do like some Bass!

I have narrowered it down to these selections, I would like some help identifying which speaker to choose!

1. Tapco by Mackie S.5 Studio Monitors, Set of 2

Link: http://www.amazon.com/Tapco-Mackie-S-5-Studio-Monitors/dp/B0002LWVNQ/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&s=musical-instruments&qid=1245912538&sr=1-10

Price: $300.00

Notes: These were my first choice, but recently I have been looking around and im really interested in this:

2. KRK RP5G2 Rokit G2 5In Powered Studio Monitor Ea

Link 1: http://www.amazon.com/KRK-RP5G2-Powered-Studio-Monitor/dp/B001A6G6CY/ref=pd_cp_MI_1

Price: $150.00 + $150.00 = $300

Notes: I have always been interested in KRK, however, while searching I found this link

Link: http://www.amazon.com/Monitors-Whirlwind-Unique-Squared-Stickers/dp/B001PCWTO2/ref=pd_cp_MI_1

Is this ^^ to good to be true? I get all that for $300.00 ? Is this the way to go?

Also, whats the big differences bewteen the different series of KRK RP 5/ 6 / 8? Is it that much worth it to go from 5 to 6, or to 8??

3. Mackie MR5 (Pair) Reference Monitors

Link : http://www.amazon.com/Mackie-MR5-Pair-Reference-Monitors/dp/B0019MJC66/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=musical-instruments&qid=1246389500&sr=8-2

Price: $360.00

4. M-Audio Studiophile BX5a Deluxe 70-watt Bi-amplified Studio Reference Monitors

Link: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0014IEBM0/ref=ord_cart_shr?_encoding=UTF8&m=A1J7WSBJHTGUFA&v=glance

Price: 299.00

Notes: My friend had these, said they were good, but originally they were 217.00 the other day, now they are 300.00 I doubt id be looking into these.

ANY help is appreciated, if you have any other studio monitors I should be looking into for around the price of $300 below, that'd be great. Really looking forward to replys.

Thank you sincerely,
Ron.

The only 2 worth looking at are the Mackies and M-Audio, go with a 5" or 6" and add a sub later...

I have an Apple Macbook and it has excellent speakers already built in which sound good.

Are you serious?:skep:

In my years of recording I've used all the the speakers listed above, if not that actual monitor, a close relative or predecessor. Professionally speaking I prefer Tannoy for studio monitors but I've also used the bigger model KRK's. I mostly use Mackies for live work, not recording. Everything you list should do you fine but I'd personnaly go with Mackie. I've used M-Audio sound cards but not their monitors.
