Basically i've posted around on other forums but no one really has a clue or any sensible information, so thought i would give this a try.

iv'e got a set of logitech x530 which are absolutely shocking. pretty much just uses a sub to drown out the lack of quality in the other speakers... anyway im looking to buy either a pair of active monitors or hi-fi speakers

now what would you lot advise? my budget is < £200... speakers will be used for house partys but still running from my desktop.

my mate reckons its pointless spending < £200 on a set of monitors as the quality will be s***, the problem with monitors aswell is that ill have to buy mixers or sound cards to accomodate my computer...I found this package which i thought looked pretty good (amp is only 70rms mind you) http://www.htfr.com/more-info/MR247937, what would the quality and loudness be on these?
any other suggestions

i want looooooud speakers :)

thanks for any help

I don't know about shaking the walls, but I found these using a quick search on ebay for "active monitor". Claims 25W tweeter and 75W woofer audiophile quality amps.

thanks for the reply, so you reckon definately stick with active monitors and not hi fi?
would 75 rms be good enough for ... say a house party?

Buty an early 80s, or late 70s technics receiver and a pair of model 8840 KLH speakers. And youll never have to worry about having our ears cleaned by an ENT specialist.

And in regards to shaking your walls. Dont worry about it. Your neighber 2 or 3 houses down will tell you about feeling her bed springs vibrating as she lays in bed.

I say this out of personal experience.
One of my friends had an technics the old school kind with the new class a circuitry.
One of the best ive heard in regards to bass output. And the rest of the sound spectrum wasnt too shabby either.
