I just got from my neighbor an old set of awesome speakers

that he was throwing out because the foam surrounding the 4 cones of the woofers and midrange has withered away. I know that I can spend $50+ here

to buy kits to replace the foam but the sound is pretty good already so the project is not worth near that much. I am hoping to get some do-it-yourself advice as to how I might otherwise repair the foam edges other than buying these expensive kits. Thanks.

go on ebay, they're selling them much cheaper. Around $20 give or take. This is the only way in repairing them unless you ask the manufacturer if you can buy new drivers for the speakers.

If it was me, I would trash them & replace them with drivers from diyproaudio.com

just be careful of the foam you buy, there are so many different sizes. i refoam and recone speakers all day long and just about any recone station will do them for between 35 to 50. dont used them if the foam is rotting because the coil will rub and cause more problems. what kind of speakers are they? if you look at partsexpress.com you could probably find replacements for cheap.
