Well sure this goal made the score 8 - 0. But that's still no way to treat your Goalie no matter how much wind he's sucking. :nono:

The goalie taking the hit is Jaroslav Halák from the Montreal Canadiens. The slasher is Tomas Surovy, formerly of the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The Yahoo news headline says, "Hockey Hit, Goalie nearly decapitated". Well this is hardly a near decapitation. Did anyone at Yahoo actually watch this video?

Well that's one way to send a message.

One of the unique things about hockey is that the system of minor league affiliates, as well as the salary cap/free agency hop-about, have led to a situation in which it's not uncommon to play for two or three teams in a year...often suddenly aligned with former bitter rivals. Lotta bad blood trying to coexist on a lot of teams...

...plus it was goal 8 fer cripes sake...ol' boy's lucky he didn't catch a skate to achilles in the locker room.

Wasn't THAT special!!! Really lends new vigor to the term "team mate" now doesn't it??? Did he get called for slashing? Was there any team or league penalty? Why wasn't the poor bastard pulled after it was 4 to 0?

I feel sorry for the goalie, it's hard enough being called "red light" without gettin physically beat down by your own squaddies.

Looked to me like he was banging his stick in frustration on the post and just didn't notice his goalies head was in the way....I don't think he meant to do it (did he?).
