Warner offers HD-DVD trade in.

Warner Bros. is now offering a trade up program called Red2Blu, where you can trade in your old HD-DVDs (only WB titles) for brand new copies in Blu-Ray.

The program limits you to 25 items per household. To participate, visit the Red2Blu program website, select the titles you want to trade up, then send in $4.95 per title + $6.95 S&H along with the original HD-DVD packaging artwork / box sleeve. You don't need to send in your discs.

Warner is accepting trade-ins for 128 titles including "Batman Begins," "I Am Legend," "The Matrix," "Syriana," and "Unforgiven." If your Warner title is not on the Red2Blu list, Warner says that movie will not be eligible for trade-in.

That is not really a bad deal considering that you get to keep your old HD-DVD disc. It is the postage and handling that get you.

THATS always the "gotcha" in these type deals.
The cost plus the infamous "shipping and handling " add up to a whosesale BLU DISC
shipped via the slowest (and cheapest) snailmail possible.
I doubt this promo costs warner very much, but will probably buy some goodwill at least.:1:

Some of these titles are still selling for $15 to $20 on Blu-ray. Especially if you buy a DVD/HD-DVD combo disc, this would be a great deal because you get to keep the DVD copy and pay another $5 (+S&H) to get the Blu-ray version. Depending on how many discs you buy, that's potentially $5 to $10 in savings per title.
