I have discovered that acoustic ceiling tiles are a good alternative for building custom acoustic panels. You could probably even double them up and mount them with an air gap for a low cost bass trap. The best thing is they are very cheap and can be found at any homedepo or lowes. At the lowes store here you can get 6 for less than 30 bucks.

Another thing i ran across but havent tried yet. Build a frame about 3 inches thick with 1x3s, find some snow cone cups(you know the cone shaped paper ones). Snip alittle of the cone end off. You should use a peice of hard board on the back of the frame. so what you have is a 3 inche thick frame with a solid back.

now lay the cups down on the back board(the end you drink from should be against the back board) fill the end you snipp of with geat stuff foam.

maybe i can get some oppinions on all this
