I don't know how I missed this! Is that really you Dean? It sure is nice to see and hear you. :)
Thanks. I over did the twang, but it was the 4th of July weekend. I'm glad you found it though. I've been waiting patiently for your "in kind" response. I know you play and I'm sure you can carry a tune.

Yes, but lucky for you I don't have a video camera. :o

sometimes an old line I've heard many times all of a sudden jumps up and down and waves a flag. here's a recent one. can you guess the song?
"She's filin' her nails while they're draggin' the lake."

"She's filin' her nails while they're draggin' the lake."Watching The Detectives is one of those over-played songs that I never get sick of, even though it is over-played.

When this song came out, I was 22-yrs-old and lower, middle class. I knew very little of the world outside of my own little world. I loved the song, but I never really payed that close attention to the lyrics. Earlier this week, my guitar teacher gave me this song to learn. It's been many, many years since I've listened to it and I never realized until now just how sad a song it is.
Tracy Chapman — Fast Car
You got a fast car
I want a ticket to anywhere
Maybe we make a deal
Maybe together we can get somewhere
Any place is better
Starting from zero got nothing to lose
Maybe we'll make something
Me myself I got nothing to prove
You got a fast car
I got a plan to get us out of here
I've been working at the convenience store
Managed to save just a little bit of money
Won't have to drive too far
Just cross the border and into the city
You and I can both get jobs
And fin'lly see what it means to be living
See my old man's got a problem
He lives with the bottle that's the way it is
He says his bodys too old for working
I say his bodys too young to look like his
My mama went off and left him
She wanted more from life than he could give
I said somebodys got to take care of him
So I quit school and that's what I did
You got a fast car
Is it fast enough so we can fly away
We gotta make a decision
We leave tonight or live and die this way
I remember when we were driving driving in your car
Speed so fast I felt like I was drunk
City lights lay out before us
And your arm felt nice wrapped round my shoulder
And I had a feeling that I belonged
And I had a feeling I could be someone, be someone, be someone
You got a fast car
We go cruising to entertain ourselves
You still ain't got a job
And I work in the market as a checkout girl
I know things will get better
You'll find work and I'll get promoted
We'll move out of the shelter
Buy a bigger house and live in the suburbs
I remember we were driving driving in your car
Speed so fast I felt like I was drunk
City lights lay out before us
And your arm felt nice wrapped round my shoulder
And I had a feeling that I belonged
And I had a feeling I could be someone, be someone, be someone
You got a fast car
I got a job that pays all our bills
You stay out drinking late at the bar
See more of your friends than you do of your kids
I'd always hoped for better
Thought maybe together you and me'd find it
I got no plans I ain't going nowhere
So take your fast car and keep on driving
I remember when we were driving driving in your car
Speed so fast I felt like I was drunk
City lights lay out before us
And your arm felt nice wrapped round my shoulder
And I had a feeling that I belonged
And I had a feeling I could be someone, be someone, be someone
You got a fast car
But is it fast enough so you can fly away
You gotta make a decision
You leave tonight or live and die this way

This one's about my wife's lap dog. I have a dirtier version but my wife doesn't care for it. Surprisingly, both she and the dogs only mildly protest when I sing this one.
Ballad of Charlie Bright-Sword
Charlie, the dog from Alabama,
Went out to Californ-i-a.
He picked avocadoes with the Mexicans.
Met a li’l Chihuahua ‘long the way.
He got mixed up with some criminals.
Robbed a bank and stole an SUV.
Hopped a boat and sailed to Hawaii,
Caught a plane and flew to Osaki.
Now he’s a Samurai in Jay-pan.
Has a little geisha named Suki.
He fights crime and she makes all the money.
They wag their tails and live happily.
Charlie, the dog from Alabama,
Screwed up in Californ-i-a.
Now he’s a Samurai in Jay-pan,
Kickin’ tail,
Sniffin’ tail,
All day!

staying with the pet theme. anyone with a pet should hear this.
GHOST OF MY OLD DOG
And she would know
For it was she
Who said that I
I looked happy
In the photos
Where I would pose
With the pets
That I once had
But they're all gone now
To earthen bed
Don't yell at me
Cus you can't see
Who I am thinking of
You act as if
You've caught me with
Someone I used to love
Well, I guess you caught me
But you won't stop me
And I'll never have enough
I'm only talking
I'm only laughing
With the ghost of my old dog
But they're all gone now
To earthen bed

Jerry was a race car driver
And he drove so goddamned fast
He never did win no checkered flag
But he never did come in last
Jerry was a race car driver
He'd say El solo number one
With a bocephus sticker
On his 442 he'd light 'em up
Just for fun
Aaaaaaaaaaahhh!
Captain Pierce was a fireman
Richmond engine #3
I'll be a wealthy man when I get
A dime for all the things that
Man taught to me
Captain Pierce was a strong man
Strong as any man alive
It stuck in his craw that they
Made him retire at the age of 65
Aaaaaaaaaaahhh!
Jerry was a race car driver
22 years old
Had too many cold beers one night
And wrapped himself around a telephone pole.
Go...

I'm your mamma, i'm your daddy
I'm that ***** in the alley
I'm your doctor, when in need
Want some coke, have some weed
You know me, i'm your friend
Your main boy, thick and thin
I'm your pusherman
I'm your pusherman
Haha
Ain't i clean, bad machine
Super cool, super mean
Feelin' good, for the man
Superfly, here i stand
Secret stash, heavy bread
Baddest *****es, in the bed
I'm your pusherman
I'm your pusherman
I'm your pusherman
Solid life, of crime
A man of odd circumstance
A victim of ghetto demands
Feed me money for [style]
And i'll let you trip for a while
Insecure from the past
How long can a good thing last?
Woo-hoo, no
Got to be mellow, y'all
Gotta get mellow now
Pusherman gettin' mellow y'all
Heavy mind, have you signed?
Makin' money all the time
My [LD] entrusts me
For all junkies to see
Ghetto prince is my thing
Makin' love's how i swing
I'm your pusherman
I'm your pusherman
Huh
Too bad, [Splee]
For a generous fee
Make your world what you want it to be
Got a woman i love desperately
Wanna give her something better than me
Been told i can't be nothin' else
Just a hustler in spite of myself
I know i can rake it
This life just don't make it
Lord, lord
Got to get mellow now
Gotta be mellow, y'all
Got to get mellow now
I'm your mamma, i'm your daddy
I'm that ***** in the alley
I'm your doctor, when in need
Want some coke, have some weed
You know me, i'm your friend
Your man boy, thick and thin
I'm your pusherman
I'm your pusherman

Bi-Polar Love Song
Googlemaps
GPS
Won’t take me where I wanna be
Next to you
You next to me
‘Zz where I wanna be
That thing I said
I’d take it back
Wipe your memory clean
If I had
That kind of machine
I’d wipe your memory clean
Aha!
If I had
That kind of machine
I’d wipe your memory clean
Aha!
If I had
That kind of machine
I’d wipe your memory clean

Mother's Daughter
Santana
Got no time for foolin' with you baby
Your stupid game is about to end.
You played it out.
Thought you had it made.
And it looks like someone passed you by again.
I left her standin' in her corner
She told me she was tryin' to find her way.
I've got to leave before I get much older
Cause she ain't moved in nearly forty days.
I've got a woman that's treatin' me better.
She takes her time and she ain't so cruel.
I've got someone to take you over
Your mother ain't so bad,
What happened to you?

We fell in love at first sight
I can't explain the feelings
When I first saw you
We were so happy
A life of love sweet holy child
You'll always be mine
But then I played the fool
I never meant to hurt you
Or sleep with your friends
We reconciled we found ourselves
Our love was meant to be
Oh, baby can't you see
You left me standing in the mind
Crying to myself
A heart so full of pain
But we fell in love again
This time forever true love prevails over all
She got hit by a truck

Actually, I have a buddy in the Middle East who used the phrase, "husk of an old jet" not 12 hours ago...plus it's what I was listening to 5 years ago so it's like a two-fer...:p

released in 1974-75 but spoke volumes as you can see America today
"Chocolate City"
Uh, what's happening CC?
They still call it the White House
But that's a temporary condition, too.
Can you dig it, CC?
To each his reach
And if I don't cop, it ain't mine to have
But I'll be reachin' for ya
'Cause I love ya, CC.
Right on.
There's a lot of chocolate cities, around
We've got Newark, we've got Gary
Somebody told me we got L.A.
And we're working on Atlanta
But you're the capital, CC
Gainin' on ya!
Get down
Gainin' on ya!
Movin' in and on ya
Gainin' on ya!
Can't you feel my breath, heh
Gainin' on ya!
All up around your neck, heh heh
Hey, CC!
They say your jivin' game, it can't be changed
But on the positive side,
You're my piece of the rock
And I love you, CC.
Can you dig it?
Hey, uh, we didn't get our forty acres and a mule
But we did get you, CC, heh, yeah
Gainin' on ya
Movin' in and around ya
God bless CC and it's vanilla suburbs
Gainin' on ya!
Gainin' on ya!
Gainin' on ya! (heh!)
Gainin' on ya!
Gainin' on ya!
What's happening, blood?
Gainin' on ya!
Gainin' on ya!
Gainin' on ya!
Yeah!
What's happening, black?
Brother black, blood even
Yeah-ahh, just funnin'
Gettin' down
Ah, blood to blood
Ah, players to ladies
The last percentage count was eighty
You don't need the bullet when you got the ballot
Are you up for the downstroke, CC?
Chocolate city
Are you with me out there?
And when they come to march on ya
Tell 'em to make sure they got their James Brown pass
And don't be surprised if Ali is in the White House
Reverend Ike, Secretary of the Treasure
Richard Pryor, Minister of Education
Stevie Wonder, Secretary of FINE arts
And Miss Aretha Franklin, the First Lady
Are you out there, CC?
A chocolate city is no dream
It's my piece of the rock and I dig you, CC
God bless Chocolate City and it's (gainin' on ya!) vanilla suburbs
Can y'all get to that?
Gainin' on ya!
Gainin' on ya!
Easin' in
Gainin' on ya!
In yo' stuff
Gainin' on ya!
Huh, can't get enough
Gainin' on ya!
Gainin' on ya!
Be mo' funk, be mo' funk
Gainin' on ya!
Can we funk you too
Gainin' on ya!
Right on, chocolate city!
Yeah, get deep
Real deep
Heh
Be mo' funk
Mmmph, heh
Get deep
Bad
Unh, heh
Just got New York, I'm told

ROCKIN' THE SUBURBS
Ben Folds Five Rockin The Suburbs Lyrics
Send "Rockin The Suburbs" Ringtone to your Cell Translation in progress. Please wait...
Let me tell y'all what it's like
Being male, middle class and white
It's a *****, if you don't believe
Listen up to my new cd
Sham on
I got **** running through my brain
So intense that I can't explain
All alone in my white boy pain
Shake your booty while the band complains
I'm rocking the suburbs
Just like michael jackson did
I'm rocking the suburbs
Except that he was talented
I'm rocking the suburbs
I take the checks and face the facts
That some producer with computers
Fixes all my ****ty tracks
I'm pissed off but I'm too polite
When people break in the mcdonalds line
Mom and dad you made me so uptight
I'm gonna cuss on the mic tonight
I don't know how much I can take
Girl give me something I can break
[ Lyrics from: Rockin The Suburbs Lyrics - Ben Folds Five (http://www.lyricsfreak.com/b/ben+folds+five/rockin+the+suburbs_20016561.html) ]
I'm rocking the suburbs
Just like quiet riot did
I'm rocking the suburbs
Except that they were talented
I'm rocking the suburbs
I take the checks and face the facts
That some producer with computers
Fixes all my ****ty tracks
In a haze these days
I pull up to the stoplight
I can feel that something's not right
I can feel that someone's blasting me
With hate and bass
Sending dirty vibes my way
Cause my great great great great grandad
Made someone's great great great great grandaddy slaves
It wasn't my idea
It wasn't my idea
It never was my idea
I just drove to the store
For some preparation h
Ya'll don't know what it's like
Being male, middle class and white
It gets me real pissed off and it makes me wanna say
****
Just like jon bon jovi did
I'm rocking the suburbs
Except that he was talented
I'm rocking the suburbs
I take the checks and face the facts
That some producer with computers
Fixes all my ****ty tracks these days
I'm rocking the suburbs
You'd better look out because I'm gonna say ****
