I have been doing some extensive research on the net...but due to my lack of knowledge on the matter, my search results have been poor. I'm looking for the following in a speaker system: 5.1 surround sound, wall mountable satellites, remote for easy access volume control; and must produce a good sound for music, movies and games.

One thing I want to be able to do is connect my PC and TV to the speaker system at the same time so I can listen to music or play movies on the computer through the speaker system, then when I wanna fire up the PS3 and use the same system without the hassle of changing cords from one medium to the other. Does anyone at least know of a suitable cable that can do this as an alternative?

One system that pops up alot is the Logitech Z-5500 but alot of reviews say that the sound quality with music is pretty bad, what are your opinions on this?

Anyway cheers guys! Any help is much appreciated!

You'll need a receiver and speakers, two separate issues.

Those "all-in-one" computer speaker systems don't offer the flexibility and sound you say you need.

Get this system and buy a HT receiver. http://www.audioholics.com/reviews/speakers/satellite/energy-take-classic-review

Then get an Onkyo TX SR 504 receiver or if you want to go chaeper consider lower priced Pioneer VSX series or Yamaha HTR series.

cheers mate! it's exactly what I was looking for! so basically the satellites are hooked up to the subwoofer, then the subwoofer is hooked up to the receiver? or do you connect the subwoofer to the receiver then the satellites to the receiver aswell? also what cable will I need to connect the receiver to the TV? sorry for all of the questions but I've never really dealt with this technology before...many thanks!

The satellites are hooked up to the receiver's speaker out terminals and the sub woofer is hooked up to the receivers sub output with a subwoofer cable. If you can swing the extra money, go for the Onkyo TX SR 606.

As far as your TV is concerned, do you have an HDTV with an HDMI out?

Yeah I have a HDTV with a HDMI-out...If I didn't have the HDMI would you still be able to connect the TV to the receiver?
Also, I can't find the Energy 5.1 Take Classic around where I live (Australia), there was one place selling them but they were very expensive. Any other suggestions for a good, affordable 5.1 speaker system?

I just found this receiver...while it's cheap and probably not the best - would it suffice to handle the satellites, sub and connection to a hdtv?
Here's the link: http://www.digitalhome.com.au/Tvs_And_Home_Theatre/Yamaha/RXV363B_51_Channel_Digital_Home_Theatre_Receiver/23578 if you look at the specifications tab near the bottom it looks like it can but I'm not sure. Cheers!
